Sampled at GABF 2011. Dark brown, nearly black, pour. Aroma of roasted coffee and light chocolate. Smoky, roasted coffee flavor. Unfortunately, a bit thin and almost watery. Just ok.

Thanks to Dave for the can. Poured near black with a creamy dark tan head.. sticky and thorough lacing. The aroma picked up a lot of semi-sweet chocolate with vanilla accents.. nice roast to it.. really enjoyed it. The flavor found lightly-soured chocolate and lesser black patent malt throughout.. cocoa, vanilla, and a hint of molasses on the finish.. grainy sugars stuck around on the tasty finish. Light-medium bodied and very dry on the palate.. roasty tartness accented well.. well-balanced. I really dug this.

Can thanks to fata2683. Thanks! Black pour with a mocha colored head, small. Faded to a quick ring. Aroma was cocoa, light roast, and some coffee. Quite pleasing. Lots of chocolate. Flavors were quite roasty up front, light cocoa and some coffee in the finish. A bit rough around the edges but all around pretty nice. Mouthfeel was just a tad thin but worthy. I enjoyed it.

12 oz can given to me by alagnak. Pour is hazed brown with ruby notes and a one inch tan head that falls with large bubbles. The aroma is roasted, slightly char malt along with a mild grassiness. The taste is focused on the roasted malt, along with a big leafy earthy tobacco that works really well with the char nature of the malt. The grassiness joins with some mineral to create a dry flinty finish. The palate is medium bodied, un filtered mouth feel. The active carbonation and dry finish lead to really high drinkability. Really enjoyed this, thanks Chris.

I really enjoyed the flavor, which was markedly burnt with chocolate and roasted finishing notes. Had it at a can while watching a state park ranger give a talk about the Mountain Pine Beetle and its effect on Custer State Park. Good times, reasonably good beer. Can.
