Fra prøvebrett i brewpuben 11 Apr 13. Svart. Lavt, litt farget skum. God røstet aroma med hint av kaffe. Smaken er røstet malt. Kaffe. Lakris. Ettersmaken er kaffe. Litt tørr. En god stout!

Snit glass taster, tap at the brewpub. Clear mahogany coloured body. Low layer blanketing the glassware. Spiced fruity aroma, herbal dry. Taste of dusty hops and chocolate malts supported by spices leading to an ending of bitter-dry pine needles. Well bodied. A good one (Oslo 25.11.2013).

Draft at Crowbar in Oslo. Smells and tastes like Black IPA: roast, christmas tree, pine needles, herbs, chocolate, etc. I don’t get any wasabi character so I wonder if it’s only a cute name. Fruity and resinous hops, a lot of roast and black patent char. Luscious body, medium to full, medium-high bitterness, medium sweetness, some acid. Cheese rind must and char / ink in the finish.

---Rated via Beer Buddy

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown with a red hue and a beige head. Roasted malts nose, hints of oats. In the mouth roasted sweetness gradually gives way to a bitterdry finish. Interesting.

On tap at the brewery. Dark brown/ blackish color. Good Roasted aromas, malt, licorice and mild wasabi in the aftertaste. Some good yeast influence. Medium body & complexity. Some bitterness, well balanced. Very enjoyable- really like the hot spices of this one ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: Black with a subtle red color. Tan head. Some lacing.
Aroma: Dark malt and light spicy.
Palate: Medium plus body. Moderate sweet and a mild bitterness. Smooth carbonation.
Taste: Coffee, roasted malt and a bit spicy. Not difficult to guess that it is wasabi when you read at the board.
Overall impression: I really enjoyed this one. Hopefully they keep brewing this beer!
Personal stats: On tap @ source.

From tap @Crowbar, Oslo. Dark translucent with ruby highlights. Low choco head. Initial aroma of ashy dark malts, offset by a peppery spice note and a hint of leafy hops. Quite well-bodied. Smooth, almost creamy in the mouth. The wasabi is noticable (because I knew), but most of all a general peppery spicy tone. Well roasted malt flavor with a note of soy sauce. Light tarry and peppery endnotes. A good one, with exciting and well merging flavors. [13.12.12]
