Draft under Java Porter. Poured clear dark brown color with medium brown creamy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

This was called a Java Porter by the waitress, but judging from the lack of preparation or knowledge, I’m guessing it was this. Nice dark color. A little bit of an off-white head. Lots of roasted coffee flavor, which was great. Decent mouth feel, a medium finish. I’d get this again.

Tap: Deep brown and nearly opaque with a small lasting frothy head and minimal lace. The aroma is coffee and roast with some chocolate and toffee, earthy yeast and hop vapours quickly flee along with a dash of plum acidity. The taste is a tad more complex than the base beer with the coffee flavor upfront supported by light oatmeal, bittersweet chocolate, crystal, and toasted malt profile. Light hop bitterness and fruity acidity found upon the finish. The mouth feel is refreshing and a little thinner than the Celtic Pride, but creamier, strange. Again, another solid offering and I like better than the base stout.
