3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 holdenn (1855) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 2, 2011
On tap at the brewery long ago. Dark brown with a brown head. Nose of roast, chocolate and grain. Coffee chocolate flavors. Lots of roastyiness maybe too much. Not executed well, kinda messy.

Served in a pint glass, this stout is almost black with a frothy brown head that dissipates slowly. Slight hints of chocolate, coffee, and roasty malts tease my nostrils before taking a sip. The sip enforces the aroma with a little sweetness, a crisp finish, and a hint of bitterness. It has a full body with a thick creamy feel and average carbonation. This stout is very enjoyable, and while it is substantial enough to be satisfied with a pint, it is drinkable enough to session a few. Additionally, it may actually be an oatmeal stout instead of a dry stout.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Tmoney99 (7301) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 12, 2010
Draft sample. Poured dark brown color with an average creamy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Medium body with a dry sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet roasted coffee flavor with a medium bitter finish of average duration. This is the style I favor but this was the standout brew of the visit.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 cking (1175) - North Canton, Ohio, USA - MAY 9, 2010
"A very nice oatmeal stout which rounded out the sampler tray on my visit. Wished I had time for a whole pint as this was the favorite from their offerings. Dark brown/black body with a constant tan head and pillow like lacing. Rich roasted aromas with heavy influences of coffee, chocolate and toast. Smooth and velvety with a nice easiness about it. Flavors mirrored the aroma and satisfied the palate. Top notch pub ale."

Tap: Deep brown with a small frothy tan head, okay lace. The aroma has heavy notes of roasted barley and coffee, some light notes of bittersweet chocolate and tobacco, light earthy and herbal hop, and a bit hay like pale malt. The taste is rather straight forward roast and coffee with a hint of chocolate, caramel and hop bitterness. The mouth feel is medium-bodied and a tad astringent. An okay offering, solid but not overly memorable.

On tap at brewery. Pours very dark brown , clear, but very dark. Aroma is very roasty. Flavor is roasty, dark, bitter, some roast acidity, very dry quick finish, dry coffee, pretty standard but well made. Medium bodied, nice mouthful, some crunchy sensation.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUL 8, 2009
On tap at the brewpub: This poured an intensely dark brown body with a respectable pale tan head. The aroma was roasted dark malt with some hard nuts and a hint of chocolate. The flavor also had some dark coffee, sweet dark malts, and a light earthy bitterness. Nice.

Dark black with brown tint with small beige head. Aroma is roasty and dry with some nutiness. Flavor is dry roast, coffee, and of course nuttiness, some cola as well and bitter chocolate. Medium body and light carbonation. Very roast forward.
