COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(American Style IPA) - This deep gold colored brew has a strong citrus-like flowery hop aroma. The intense hop bitterness and flavor is backed by medium maltiness and body. Our IPA is hopped seven times during the boil with Summit, Centenial, lots of Cascade hops and dry-hopped (adding hops directly to the beer post-fermentation) for additional character. Special Force Ale is left unfiltered to lock all the hop freshness.

Thanks to Paul for bringing the growler! Poured hazy medium amber with a short-lived beige head. The aroma picked up orange, earth, and dank floral hops over sweet caramel and lesser bready malt.. almost like some sort of citrus juice on the back. The flavor found caramel and a touch of molasses on the sweet core.. orange and dank floral bitterness around.. bitter on the finish, but with not a whole lot of direction to it. Medium-bodied and grainy on the palate.. moderate-plus bitterness.. OK overall.

Tasted in October 2011 from a bottle shared by Mark, big thanks. Pours clear amber with an average off-white head that slowly recedes to thin bubbly lace. The nose is floral hops, chewable kids vitamins, and some caramel brad malt. The flavor is extremely bitter resin hops with some floral notes, and a bread malt backbone. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long bitter resin hops finish.

One of the few brews I’ve tried from Crown Brewing. Very good beer been looking for it since trying at Beer Geeks. =)

A very respectable IPA. Nice bitterness with a sweet malty body. Probably my favorite beer from Crown. Overall very solid. Good hops profile with a body to match.

Served in a pint glass, this ale is a hazy amber with a fine white head. There are notes of citrus, spruce, and resin revealed in a sniff. However, the taste is predominantly bitter. The mouthfeel is a little oily with a medium body. I’ve had this on several occassions, and never been dissapointed but I’ve not been overly impressed either.

22oz bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a big white head. Aroma is hoppy. Medium on the palate with avg carbonation. Flavor is well balance, hops and malt. This bottle was a little old, but in as it was, it was just an average IPA.

dark amber gold, little bubbles for a head, lacy. nose of caramel with a touch of hops. flavor is caramel with bitter citric and floral hops. medium bodied, slightly floral finish. not a bad try, but not quite up to what i expect from an IPA. mugclubber george shared this in a growler.

I like this IPA because it is not overpowering in flavor. Strong hop aroma but no alcohol burn aftertaste. The color is more red than gold with very little head. Taste is a bitter lemon hoppienss.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2010 On draught at Heorot in Muncie, IN. The beer is a mostly clear dark amber color with thin and dense light beige head that evaporates slowly. Thick rings of lacing on the glass. Grapefruity hops aroma with some malty notes. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops profile and notes of citrus and bready malt. The finish is hoppy and floral with a citrusy aftertaste. Decent IPA overall.
