COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional Bavarian wheat beer is brewed with a mash bill consisting of 50% malted red wheat which produces a lighter bodied ale with tremendous thirst quenching potential. This brew is all about the yeast! The traditional German yeast strain we employ to ferment this brew unleashes massive amounts of esthers into the beer which contribute huge banana aromas and also some underlying spicy/clove notes. Hops take a back seat in this baby with just a kiss of Hallertau Hersbrucker being used to provide a faint crisp bitterness.

Draft at Crown. Pours a mostly clear pale yellow, some haze. Fluffy white head. Nose is slightly citrusy banana. Faint clove and sweetness. On tasting, moderately sweet and skewed towards candy and bananas. Some clovey phenolics drag across the palate at the finish. Lacks complexity overall.

Not a bad Hefe. Still pretty bland and watered down. Good citrus flavor with a slightly creamy body. Decent out of the lineup but nothing very special.

Banana aroma with a hint of clove, orange/copper hue, nice head, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, very light tart, with banana, bubblegum, clove/spice taste, light body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish. Good beer, pleasantly surprised as this is not my normal preference. Well worth a sample pint.

Draft sample. Poured an hazy yellow color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate tart citrus, banana and clove aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer.

On tap at the brewpub: This poured a hazy pale yellow body with a tall frothy head and some heavy duty lacing. The aroma was bready malt covered with fresh ripe bananas and a hint of clove. Very soft mouthfeel. There was a bit of bubblegum, a squirt of lemon, and a stronger clove spiciness added to the flavor. A very tasty and refreshing beer.

On tap: Hazy golden hue with very good lace. The aroma is very traditional with notes of banana, bubblegum, clove, wheat, grassy hops, and a touch of biscuity malts. The taste is yeast spicy and slightly twangy fruit with a layer of wheat and pale malt. The mouth feel is very refreshing, lively and dry. This is a very good foray into the style from a new brewer and holds out hope for more good things to come.

7/14/08 On tap at Crown Brewing. Pours a slightly hazed golden yellow with a white head. Sweet cotton candied nose with strong wheat, yeast, and bananas. Underneath the initial aroma is grains, lemons, clove, and a touch of perfume that isn’t unpleasant. Light body with carbonation that is a little spritzy, lacking a creamier wheat mouthfeel. Sweet flavors. Candied, lemons, yeast, wheat, with clove, herbal, and earthy notes in the dry finish. Decent hefe.

Had this on tap at Crown Brewing. Wheat beers seem to be all the rage lately especially the flavored varieties. This didn’t have the pronounced fruity flavors but only hints of them making for a refreshing wheat beer experience. Smooth, easy to drink brew that goes with their deep dish pizza. Easy to drink more than one of the tall glasses!
