Cask (gravity dispense). Beer #2 at Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival on 3 February 2011. Listed as Brooklyn Dark Porter in the festival programme but labeled as Brooklyn Black on the barrel. Very dark brown. Loose but lasting beige head. Roasty, creamy aroma. Lots of hops on the palate (US presumably) providing some grapefruit notes and a lot of bitterness. Stewed coffee notes provide more bitterness. Also bitter chocolate. Quite bitter indeed, tending to astringent, but not unpleasantly so. The coffee lingers in the aftertaste. Maybe a tad unbalanced but I like it.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Loads of beers shared with ChrisO and Harrisoni - Cheers! Clear dark brown beer, residual tan head. Light overdry palate. A little roasty malt, tangy. Okay but the dryness stops me lingering over this.

Cask gravity at Chelmsford Winter BF 2011. Black beer with lasting tan head. Some dark choc on aroma. Some US hops. Tasty beer. Reminds me of US porters in the flavour. Good choccy flavour throughout like 65% cocoa. Touch of wood
