[cask @ RBESG 2009] Roasty toasty vanilla hazelnut aroma. Opaque black with a lasting, dense beige foam. Flavour = roasty, slightly sour, vanilla, with a touch of bourbon. Creamy and with a tiny bit of bitterness. Light to medium body with low carbonation and a clean finish.

[RBESG, Sheffield]
Cask @ Hillsborough Hotel, Sheffield.
Pours deep, almost black with a small, cappucino-beige head. Aroma is roasted with lots of dark chocolate. Soft carbonation, super creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is also top-class. Sweet, roasted, dark chocolcate, light blackberries. Super elegant.

Had it @ Marble Arch, Manchester next day. It was by far the best at Hillsborough. Marble Arch version was probably about a 3.3

Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 7, 2008
Bottle at EBF 2008, Copenhagen. Bottle-conditioned. Pitch black with a coffee aroma. Smooth and full of the usual porter flavours - roasted melt, coffee, chocolate - but too weak on the finish.

Maria (9570) - Thisted, DENMARK - OCT 5, 2008
EBF2008. This black stout has a creamy head, and the aroma has notes of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, light licorice and a light roasted bitterness. This should be called Stunning Stout! It’s a very good example of, what I really like a lot: A well balanced stout with an extremely good and full body – and the AVB is fairly low and fools you into thinking it’s higher. I would love to have a cellar full of this stuff!
