Our famous Big Bison Ale has been aged in our very own red wine barrels, straight from our winery to the Brewery. The toasting of the barrels gives this ale dried fig notes to our already exceptional Belgian style Dubbel.

A light barrel aroma. Taste light sourness. But intentional. Sweet but over carbonated nice head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A vinous backbone supplements a sugar sweetness and dark fruit aromas. A clear dark amber pour with a thin white ring and no lacing precedes a taste that is very of similar to the nose. Vinous, wood, raisins and plums with a suggestion to some sourness. Reminds me somewhat of Dogfish Head’s Sixty- One, only slightly more subdued. Light body and moderate carbonation. Overall, I like this type of beer - somewhat of a cross between beer and wine.

Bottle. Poured hazy dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate complex dark fruit and yeast aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Moderate dark sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is an interesting beer.

22oz bottle, shared with local raters. Thanks to phaleslu for the bottle. Hazy orange red color. Thin ring of off-white head. Tannic, red grape, wood, big earthiness, mild spiciness. Interesting taste, kind of bright and tropical aroma. Some grapefruit. Medium o bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Kind of slick. Moderate bitter, light sour, light to moderate sweet taste. Pretty tasty, interesting stuff.

22 oz bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a hazy orange brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, a bid red wine, woody character, dried dark fruit, light acidity, decent.

Hazed amber pour with white head and lace. Aroma is vanilla, oak, and a light touch of abv. Flavor is sweet malt with a slight sour BB. Medium bodied and a tad fizzy.

Not an abbey dubble! No Belgium yeast aroma or flavor. Cloudy Amber with definite oak. My guess is oak aged amber.

EtTuCthulhu (1208) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - AUG 5, 2014
The appearance has a brownish red color with a minimal off-white head that is pretty much only a ring atop the liquid. The aroma blends oak, dry red wine, figs, caramel malts, and Belgian yeast, and the taste is mildly sweet, slightly sour, and a touch umami. The palate fuses an average carbonation, slick texture, medium body, and a finish that is reminiscent of sweet red wine.

Slightly sweet bready aroma. Deep brown with thin head. Flavors of vanilla and oak. Slightly spicy finish.

Bottle RBAG 2014 prelim. Hazy orange-gold, unripened berries, yoghurty sourness, woody undertones. This does not even approximate an abbey dubbel, but it was quite tasty as a sour.
