3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Malty, sweet, a little estery in aroma. Gorgeous amber with a toasted head, beautiful in the glass. Complex toast, grain, and carmel flavors dominate with accents of fruity esters, very little spice. Perfect mouthfeel. Overall could be an amazing bier, it’s simply lacking half the flavor components of a truly fine Abbey Dubbel, spice... it needs more spice. Additionally I think it’s bittered perfectly, but finished a fair amount too sweet for the style, needs to be dryer on the finish. Wonderfully drinkable and certainly worth consuming, particularly for the price point.

Nice, full bodied amber. Medium head with a brownish-amber coloring. Full finish with a hint of bitterness. The increased ABV is evident.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to mikem409: Poured a burnt brown orange with a thin off white to tan head. Aroma is leafy and dark fruit. Taste is a sweet dark fruit with nice sweet malts, light burn in the finish but stays slightly sticky.

3.2 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep copper with a thick, white head. It has a sweet, slightly fruity malt aroma. The taste is of dry-roasted malt that is sweet and fruity at first but more tart as it goes down. It has a medium mouthfeel, perhaps more on the thin side but not overly. Great beer, although to me it tastes more like a doppelbock than a dubbel.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a sexy red copper with beige head. Smells lightly sweet of barley. The taste is robust and grainy with a light barley wine like American ale taste. There is a nice raisin and strong date taste with the grain to round out the flavor. This is not a Belgian beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at 1839 Taphouse. Sweet, brown sugar, malty aroma. Belgian candy, chocolate, malty flavors. Kind of tastes like a mass produced dubbel.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Liz. Pours dark ruddy copper with a creamy beige head. Aromas of dark fruit and dark roast malt. Med + body. Flavor is raisin/date, with a little treacle and a very little yeast/spice. It all blends together in a very tasty and drinkable Belgian. Touch of chocolate, perhaps, in the finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is dark fruit, yeast and malt grit. The flavor is dark fruit/grapes/raisins, malts and a mildly tart finish. A bit thin for a Dubbel but not bad as a whole.

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
I had this for my third time on tap at the Crown Valley Brewery. This is a horrible example of an Abbey Dubbel. There is no Belgian Yeasts in this beer at all. (confirmed by Denny, the BrewMaster). It is really just a Strong American Ale that is just OK.
