Pours dark amber with a big frothy beige head. The aroma is light, some sweet nutty malts. The flavor is also a bit sweet, lighter for the style, with notes of malts, and a bit buttery nut-like flavors. Not too bad, not terribly interesting either though.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jmagnus87 (770) - Carbondale, Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2012
UPDATED: APR 30, 2012 Draft at Blues, Brews and BBQ festival. Pours nut brown with some nice off-white head. Aroma of roasty nuts and caramel. Taste is the same. Medium body with a thick creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, awesome. I’d gladly drink this again.

Hey, I didn’t care for some of their beers but I really dig this super easy chuggin’ dubbel. Me like, and at 7.2%!
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rollinsr (159) - Atlanta, GEORGIA - MAR 16, 2012
Pours a nice clear amber with a bit of almond head. Aroma is strong and fruity with some sweet caramel notes. Plums and honey. I actually ended up just smelling this one for a good 5 minutes before I took a sip. The taste of this beer does not betray the aroma at all. This is a very sweet beer with many dark fruit notes. The sweetness tends to stick to the palate almost like a fig newton. This is a good beer but I don’t think I would be able to drink more than two of them because they are very sweet.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 csaso (492) - Missouri, USA - MAR 7, 2012
Bottle - small foamy head, dark amber color, sweet malt aroma and flavor, kind of mild raisiny flavor - overall a little bland for a true dubbel
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bif (623) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 22, 2012
Bottle- Pours a nice clear amber color with a nice off-white head that fades to bits of lacing. Aroma of dark fruit including plum and raisin with a trace of spice. Also some roasted malt and hint of caramel sweetness. Flavor of plum and dark fruits. There is a bit of caramel sweetness and touch of spice. Medium body, smooth with a rich feel. There is a nice warming effect that goes well with the winter season. Interesting beer from a small regional brewer.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Heathen (1243) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - JAN 25, 2012
THOUGHTS: Not a bad beer, but a little simple. And a little too clean for the style. Not as sterile as some breweries attempts at more complex styles like Leinenkugel or Michelob, but not quite as good as most craft breweries. It sort of falls into that Sam Adams level or just below that at the Blue Moon level. Disappointed by the lack of yeast. Not a lot of balance right at the get go. A bit cloying.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured, an all to clear for the style, light brown or dark copper. Another way to look at it would be rusty with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was fairly weak. There was light to moderate dark bread and caramel; light hops; light doughy and spicy yeast; grape; raisin; plum; prune; hints of maple syrup and brown sugar; and something sort of like vinegar. The initial flavor was moderate to heavily sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet; light to moderately bitter; lightly acidic and lightly sour with an average duration. There was caramel, dark fruit, prune, raisin, candy sugar, sour plum, spicy yeast, molasses, some metallic hops and maple syrup. The slightly more than medium body was a little syrupy and very sticky on the lips with tingly carbonation and a dry, slightly stringent and ever so slightly metallic finish.

Clear amber color with modest head. Aroma and taste were typical Dubbel, with a bit more fruit than usual. Good American effort, but not a Belgium!

Draft at the brewpub. It poured a dark brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma was of caramel, dried fruit and some minor orange blossoms. The flavor was of roasted malt, dried fruit and some nutmeg.
