3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 FunkyBrewster (1382) - Chicago, USA - JAN 15, 2012
12 oz bottle. Pours deep amber with a small creamy light tan head. Aroma is sweet and lightly smokey, a bit like a glazed honey character over some light smoke and some metallic notes. Flavor starts sweet, malty, creamy, a touch candyish before some smoke and woodiness. Finishes with more of the metallic note and a bit of honey and toast. Medium body and a sharp carbonation.

A really "meaty" if you will smoked beer. Missing the cleanliness and complexity of something like a Shlenkerla, but it is nice.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Finhead (705) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - APR 27, 2012
A clear brown pour with an off-white head. The smokey, oak aroma reminds me of a BBQ pit. The light body has a smooth texture with average carbonation. It has a mildly sweet taste that finishes with more smoke. This is like a mini bonfire in a bottle.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fiveacestx (161) - Texas, USA - MAR 5, 2012
Bottle from Keir - pours tea colored brown with a large cream frothy head that dissipates fairly quickly. The aroma and taste of smoke is definitely there along with a roasted malt flavor. Has a medium body with a strange mouthfeel that is a little on the slick side.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Quasimodo (141) - chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 17, 2012
I haven’t had many smoked beers. I’m not picking up too much smokey flavor out of this one. The flavor is sort of pedestrian. However it tastes decent enough to drink, so yeah!

Lots of smoke in both aroma and taste. Medium head and body. Clear amber color. A rauchbier IMO. Lacks the chocolate and roast of a porter or stout.

Draft at the brewpub. It poured a clear copper color with a light brown head. The aroma was of smoked malts with caramel overtones. The taste was of salty smoked meats, caramel, and malts. A very good Smoked Ale.

Nice smoky aroma... not too overpowering. Great smoke throughout the palate with a nice lighter ale finish. Drinkable beer plus a great marinade for my ribs!
