Our Gunslinger Double India Pale Ale starts with a rich malt base to which we add hops, hops and more hops. This skillful blend of malt sweetness and aggressive hoppiness will rule your senses! After the addition of Columbus, simcoe, centennial and citra hops at various points of the brewing process, we reach the final IBU count of 93.

Pours a clear pale amber color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of citrus, herbal hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, sweet malt and a bit of spice. The finish is moderately bitter with a zesty citrus aftertaste. Really tastes like a straight up IPA not a IIPA but it is still decent.

Bottle from State Line. Pours deep copper with off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, heavy hops, pine, tropical fruit, and a pronounced hop, black pepper, and hop flavor, with well balanced malt.

Draft sample at St. Louis Microfest 2011. I think this was the first beer I tried that day. I was excited for the new DIPA in town but this was a bit of a letdown. Pours a mostly clear gold color with a small eggshell white head. The aroma for a DIPA was far too faint, without much hop character at all- sweet caramel malts, some grass, a good deal of citrus, bread, and crackers. Flavor of sweet caramel malts, tangerines, honey, corn flakes, and faint grassy hops in the finish. Medium-bodied, with a sticky, chewy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Seems like there’s a decent beer here but where are the hops?

12oz bottle, courtesy of gregwilsonstl, pours with a clear copper body that supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet citrus, a dash of malts, some mango and then a mild resiny spicy hoppiness at the end of the draw. The taste delivers pleasing citrusy hops that are malt sweetened into a juicy sensation. Grapefruit and tangerine hop bitterness quickly fills in behind and heading into a dash of spicy hop bitterness. This is a straight up tasty hop treat where the decent size ABV is hardly noticeable. This may even venture into the realm of dangerously drinkable.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; malty though. A fairly transparent burnt-orange with thin, sticky off-white lacing. Smells sweet, malty, and hoppy. Tastes like it smells, in that order. Average on the palate. A bit syrupy, but still enjoyable.

Trade with Aurelius - thanks! Pours a murky dark orange with a sticky thick off-white head. Fresh hoppy spruce like aroma with hints of peach. Flavor has a nice sharp grapefruit bitterness, some mango fruity-like accents, some sticky caramel notes, a touch of maple syrup. Thick, sticky mouthfeel. Pleasantly surprised.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. From Rob who brought a cool growler from the brewery. Clear and sedate with a big white soapy head. A nice fruity hop aroma with flowers and malt. Mthis is nice with big malt that provides plenty of sweetness. Softer hops when compared to the malt. This was nice and not over stated at all.

Clear golden orange, with a sizey off-white head. Smells like molasses, honey and brown sugar, with just a touch of hop character. Taste is sweet at first, then hoppy. nice mix of caramel and piney hops.
