Hops climb up twine thatís just loosely tied to the trellis with a half hitch knotó and this Imperial IPA is just loosely tied to tradition. The Mosaic hop imparts surprisingly floral aromas instead of the more expected grapefruit-y notes. On the palate, complex layers of flavors might remind you of guava, mango, stone fruit and lemon, unraveling your idea of what an Imperial IPA should be.

How: Bottle (375 ml) at home. Bottled June 15th 2015. Shared by Minderbinder, thanks! Split 3-ways.

>>> A boozy and rather spicy IIPA with interesting mangoes features. Good.

- Clear golden-orange with a small white head, moderate retention and little lacing.
- Nice citrusy hops (mangoes mostly) features, especially in taste.
- Really boozy and rather sweet, but at least in taste the sweetness is nicely cut by a burst of juicy mangoes.
- Medium to full body. Moderate to medium carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Boozy finish.
- Caramel and spicy malts provide a good but a bit heavy backbone.

Flavors: Mangoes, boozy, moderate spiciness, malts, mild caramel.

Bottle @ Aaronís Wedding Eve Shindig. Lightly hazed golden beer with white foam. Pretty solid pine and grapefruit rind on the tongue. Maybe a bit of tangy tropical fruits? Thereís a big of a sweet malt and fruit character to the flavor. Nice bitter pine and citrus along with a bit of a zest/peel quality. A little oily.

Donít normally rate things this high, but this beer is absolutely DELICIOUS. For a double IPA itís extraordinarily balanced. They take a different approach to your typical DIPA. This is not a beer for hopheads, but Iíd say a connoisseur instead. Itís full flavored, slightly sweet, citrusy, even a bit fruity. Itís just awesome. An IPA for those who donít even like IPAs.

Bottle-thanks to Andrewje41 for the bottle! Pours bright orange hue with some lite haze with a soapy white head and good lacing. Nose is huge passionfruit, tropical, mangos, papaya, pineapple and slight pink grapefruit. Flavors exhibit the passionfruit and mango notes quite a bit. This beer has quite a bit of complexity, even for a sample bottled on 5/18. Body is medium and very palatable for a double IPA. Long sweet tropical finish. Lots of papaya and pineapple. Solid stuff!

Bottle - pours a clear golden amber color with a fluffy head that mostly dissipates. Big nose full of pine, mango, floral notes, a touch of malt and some herbaceousness. A lot going on in a mouthful - some pine, some citrus, a hint of tropical fruit, honeysuckle, malty backbone and a long bitter smooth finish. Fantastic

Bright golden colour (note the Brit spelling here, lads) and white foamy head, great slightly sweet nose, lemony aroma, could be more present, though...goes down smooth with loads of accompanying garlic and onion pistanchios. I know the pistachios might have gotten in the way, but I really liked this beer. Suddenly, Iím craving a second one. Alas. Got only one bottle.
