COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hops climb up twine thatís just loosely tied to the trellis with a half hitch knotó and this Imperial IPA is just loosely tied to tradition. The Mosaic hop imparts surprisingly floral aromas instead of the more expected grapefruit-y notes. On the palate, complex layers of flavors might remind you of guava, mango, stone fruit and lemon, unraveling your idea of what an Imperial IPA should be.

375 ml. Bottle purchased from Trader Joes in Salem OR. $5.49 Pours a slightly hazy burnt orange with a nice sized bubbly white head. Massive pine and Seville Orange aromas..almost shocking. Earthy caramel malt. Taste similar to aromas..but remarkably balanced..pithy fruit dominate. Great mouth feel smooth for the alcohol strength. A nice mellow smooth DIPA

Flight pour on tap at the brewery tap room (Bend, Or). Pours a nice nearly transparent golden yellow glow, a subtle darker gold orange glow with mellow bubbly cascades. Frothy offwhite head atop with a mellow ringer, subtle filmy layer and frothy mellow layer laces ok. Aromas are bitter and pithy, citric and lively with firmer florals, earth and more tropical gumball, guava. Initial lighter end of the fold, impressive for the style, with firmer florals, citric jabs and tropical wafts clamping down on the palate. A light, well fermented body ends up almost too drinkable. Jabs of Mosaic fruity tropical life, sufficient bitterness and a 10 ABV beer that goes down far too easy. Backend is dry, firmly bitter and light with nice tropical life, Mosaic flavors are there but not overwhelming or dominant. Well integrated and well fermented, this one goes down smooth despite that impressive ABV number. Really nice masterfully made stuff. While the nose lags behind a bit, this beer delivers.

Tap at Growler Guys in Portland. Thank you, Mosaic, for being you. Mostly clear yellow to gold pour with a spotty white head. Grapefruit and plenty of floral here. Rich and wonderful. Great beer.

375 ml bottle @ Timo A. Bottled on 29.07.2015.
Pours clear golden color with a small head. Extremely fruity aroma, mango, orange, some lemon and pine, loads of resinous hops. Grapefruits and resinous hops on the flavor, mango, orange and mild peach notes, alcohol is extremely well hidden. Fairly light on the malt-side, still feels very heavy. Some bitter hop notes, maybe slightly too juicy but still damn tasty.

Crisp copper coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of grapefruit, alcohol, oak, dry malt, resin and a good deal of cognac. Medium-bodied; Strong resinous, piney and grapefruit flavour with a good dose of malt and even more alcohol - strong, pungent and very warming. Aftertaste shows of some older hops with less alpha acids, a good deal of pine and light apricot fruits and a heavy alcohol note throughout. Overall, a good Imperial IPA, but showing too much alcohol, not enough hops and only a small level of complexity - still, it was nice to try. I sampled this 37,5 cL split bottle purchased from Pearl Specialty Market in Portland, Oregon on 04-May-2015 for US$6,46 sampled at home in Washington a few minutes after completing the USMC Marathon 2015 on 25-October-2015.

Bright, light amber. Bright mosaic aroma with light caramelly malts. Fairly chewy and strong - the alcohol is quite noticeable in the finish. Lots of mosaic, decent bitterness...pretty enjoyable.

On tap at Crux. Colour...medium gold with no head. Nose...loads of grapefruit and dank hops. Palate...generous CO2, thick, cloyingly sweet grapefruity hops, up front, and then gobs of boiled citrus sweets. The finish is long, sweet and juicy.

On tap at Belmont Station. Colour...semi cloudy golden-straw with a thin white head. Nose...sweat! Gotta be the mosaic comin through! Sweaty pine cones drizzled with ponderosa pitch! Palate...guess what? More sweat! But itís pleasing to me! Sweet but not cloying, with a sappy dryness that marries well with the orchard fruits and tropical fruit salad that dances its way across the entire palate. A damn fine impy IPA!

Interesting aroma, very fruity for sure. It benefits from the ultra-high alcohol content.

Botte shared by Chaz, one of my fellow home brewers. Pours hazy gold with a big and robust foamy white head. Good lacing. Nose of triopical fruit and a funky aroma in the background. Some citrus. Medium body and a nice mouth feel. Flavor is again afunky taste and grapefruit. along with that delicious tropical fruit. Finishes with some bitterness. Interesting in many respects and really remarkably tasty. A exceptionally good beer.
