Hops climb up twine thatís just loosely tied to the trellis with a half hitch knotó and this Imperial IPA is just loosely tied to tradition. The Mosaic hop imparts surprisingly floral aromas instead of the more expected grapefruit-y notes. On the palate, complex layers of flavors might remind you of guava, mango, stone fruit and lemon, unraveling your idea of what an Imperial IPA should be.

Bottled Jan 14- Pours a clear golden color with a minimal white head and good lacing. Peach, mango, berry in the aroma. Light body and good mouthfeel. Flavors similar to the aroma. Very drinkable at 10%

Gold in color with a slight haze. Smooth and creamy. Curiously thick and sticky, but not very sweet. Lots of fruit (apples, grapes, pears), plus an interesting white wine character. Alcohol is a bit too forward and slightly hot in the back of the throat, and it kind of distracts from all the delicate aromas and nuances of the beer. Aside from that, I found it to be rather pleasant.

Bottle: † A bit of a fruity example, some pale fruit as well as grapefruit. † Smooth, decent body, warming, with a rich piney background. † Good example, wished it were a bit more floral and perhaps a touch sweeter. † Otherwise decent.

On tap art the Red Hot. Golden amber color. Thin white head. Strong scent of hops and mango. Taste is a good combination of hops and fruit. Smooth beer.

Pours a bright golden color. Mildly cloudy, which could be my fault but I donít see any sediment on the bottom of the bottle. Small to medium white head. Fine bubbles. It doesnít stick around all that long. Little bit of lacing. At first, the aroma seemed to be just a big, juicy dose of peaches and floral hop flavor, but after a minute, Iím also getting a sweaty note. It definitely doesnít ruin the aroma for me - maybe, Iíve just discovered something about myself - but itís not quite as clean and juicy as I thought at first blush. Still, Iím impressed by the peachiness, as other mosaic (D)IPAs generally havenít lived up to the hype in that department. Iím also picking up grapes, raspberries and a little tangerine. A little bit of pale, sweet malt in the background. The taste is much the same territory, but thereís a bit more citrus in the bitterness. The beer really isnít all that bitter, though. Lots of peach, grape, floral hop flavor. Pale malt in the background. Itís not quite as juicy and interesting as the aroma, but Iím still quite happy. Also, the beer is much lighter than Iíd expect from the abv. Iíll call that "well made". Mouthfeel has some weight, but again, itís lighter than youíd expect from a 10% abv DIPA. Significant hop oiliness. This is a very good DIPA. I didnít come in with high expectations for whatever reason, but Crux did fine work, here. Itís particularly nice to come across a Mosaic DIPA that shows off the varietal effectively.

On tap @ Naked City. Pours clear pale golden with a slight orangish tint. Very thin white head. Aroma is big earthy floral hops with only a hint of sweet light malt. Taste is thin, pale, potent malt; sharply bitter hops follow. Dry floral notes dominate, with more faint citrus presence on the finish. Hops overall a bit muddled - a weird contrast to the clean crisp malt. Sadly the mild fruit notes suggested were pretty minimal... Tastes just a little boozy, no way Iíd peg this at 10%. Malt is quite transparent, letting the hops shine for better or worse. A bit flawed, I guess, but so much good here itís hard to be disappointed.

Bottle. Pours hazy butterscotch, small white head that dissipates quickly and leaves decent lacing. Big aroma dank, pine, citrus, Passionfruit. Flavor follows, dank and hop forward delicious. Some sweetness, but not crazy or out of bed with the style. Light plus bitterness, not harsh on the finish, which is a plus. Somethinga bit medicinal mid body.medium body, oily finish. great compliments here, not quite gelling yet, but not bad at all

Poured from bottle a not quite clear golden with thin white head. Floral aroma. Citrus floral flavor with the focus more on the floral. Sweet but not cloying. Medium carbonation. Sweet finish. Tasty.

Bottle. A golden orange yellow color with a white head. A rich citrus, floral and grapefruit, and mango aroma with a full body and nice finish. It hides the alcohol well and tastes delicious.

Draft at SB. Pours a hazy burnished dark amber, others reported that their glasses less than an hour earlier were murkyl same keg. Loose white head. Big fresh funky orange and grapefruit peels on the nose, along with some earthiness. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Mosaic is so weird--thereís plenty of citrus rind, bright and acidic, almost popping, but then thereís this deep chewy earth next to that, on top of a toasted caramel, nutty mid palate. Wonderful, bit disconcerting at the same time. Long fruity earthy finish.
