500ml bottle - lightly hazy gold - fairly lively - nose is moderate tropical esters, light muskiness, light peppery phenolics and minerals - flavor is a bit sweet, lacking the same yeast expression that the aroma suggests - tropical notes compliment the sweetness okay, I guess - slight tartness balances as bit - as it warms, there is a nicely complex phenolic profile that develops on the tail end, but overall it’s still a little too sweet, and a little limp in the mouth - a decent attempt - I would try a later batch to see if they improved their approach.

Bottle served in a tulip. Pours slightly hazy with a short head. Nose has bubblegum, citrus, and yeast spiciness that develops as it warms. Lemon citrus flavor. Light sweet and a little tart. Light-med body, mild carbonation and slightly tart finish. Was hoping for better.

Decent saison but packaging is better than the beer itself. Pretty thick body for a saison, and a little too sweet

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours cloudy gold with a beautiful full while head. The nose is dusty hay and some clove-and-banana. The clove and banana comes on much stronger in the flavor, and bring with it an undesirable sweetness. A bit of spice, mild hop snap later, but sweet in the very long end of the flavor. Abundantly carbonated, a bit prickly on the tongue.
This one is a bit of a disappointment. Crux has been hit-or-miss, but hit more often than miss. This one has too much of what I dislike in American saisons, the sweetness and banana esters.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml Euro style bottle bough from Lifesource Grocers in Salem OR.
Pours a very light gold colour with nice carbonation strings and a large frothy white head.
Spicy ,peppery aromas, quite earthy in aspect. Some banana and clove. Nice.
Taste is similar to the aroma and very energetic in the fusion.
Nice well carbonated mouth feel with a drying finish that invites another sip.
Very nice indeed....wish it wasn’t in such small bottles!

On Tap at the Bend BP Clear golden with a slight wispy skin and lacing of off-white. Lovely sweet belgian malty aroma. Quite sweet fruity Belgian flavors, and rather slick and heavy. Expected a bit ore light and spritsy. Under attenuated maybe. Very nice flavors, Ripe light fruits and a little cereal grainiess. Soft carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Before a year or two ago, saison was a style I could pass on, but no more. They’ve come on strong, and the average one being made is as good as the better ones from years past. This is a fantastic lightly tart, fruity (thinking pear and a touch of peach) saision, with a great soft feel, hints of hay and very light pepper. Overpriced at 8.25 per 500, but damn good."
