COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name “Outcast” gives a nod to the origin of the Galaxy hops used. The hops came from Australia, which was originally populated by English “Outcasts” or outlaws.

On tap @ Collins Pub. Pours bright medium golden with thin lacy white head. Aroma is sweet light caramel malt with big earthy hops - sharply herbal and floral. Taste is clean, medium sweet caramel malt with very light body. Hops are crisp, punchy, and earthy, though not big in a traditional sense. Light floral hop notes on the finish. Not a typical DIPA, but a different hop blend that gives some interesting flavors. And, it’s Crux, quality overall is top notch.

On tap at Henry's. Clear straw gold with nice white cap. Steady lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and pine. Taste is sweet and bitter. Chewy. Pretty balanced with dry finish.

Rich, super hazy golden and copper coloured body with a thinnish, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright hybrid hops, some grapefruit, a bit of grassy and herbal notes and a good dose of yeast. Medium-bodied; Very assertive grassy and herbal notes throughout with a pleasant malt backbone, some yeast and a lot of hay and grass flavours and a subdued sweetness from honey. Aftertaste shows some nice complexity with the hops no doubt dominating, but with a rich malt flavour, some yeast and a good dry, oaky flavour that persists. Overall, a nice complex beer with a good yeast and dry spice kick and a lot of hybrid and high alpha acid hop flavous. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Portland, Oregon (Pearl) on 07-December-2013 for US$4.79 sampled at home in Washington on 06-March-2014.

Amber in color, clear with a thin head. Super hops flavor and finish. Love the taste of the beer. Great Galaxy Hops.

Bottle from brewery. Best of the IPAs I’ve tasted from crux. Has the similar dominating fruit ester flavor, but doesn’t share a sweetish finish. Good beer.

From on tap @ lardos 2-23-14 with my hot wife. Cloudy dark yellow, head foamy white that reduces to suds. Nice hop citrus punch. Good lingering note then some bitters. 8.45 bd. Jd- 4.5 super harsh but flavorful

Bottle: Tangy IPA, somewhat sweet, great head and lacing.   Not overly bitter, soft mellow citrus peel and pith.   Smooth, sweeter than most, and perhaps less bitter.   Almost doesn’t feel like a Double IPA.   Seems too soft in both malts and hops.   Clean, decent, but a lighter example.

The Outcast has great flavor that lingers long after the first swallow. It hits you with a strong bittery-citrus taste at first and then the floral tropical tones take over. The golden burnt-orange color looks great. For me, it’s higher ABV value makes a great sipping IPA that you can enjoy all night long and the Outcast is my new favorite beer.

Pours a hazy, translucent bright golden-orange with a half inch of off-white head that quickly recedes to the edges of the glass. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruit, pine, sweet melon. Flavor is dominated by hops: bitter, resinous, citrus, with a lasting floral, bitter finish. Somewhat light-bodied for the ABV. Delicious and very drinkable, although the bitterness starts to take over after several sips.

Bottle from Chuck’s.

I am going to stop buying IIPAs. Really I am. It’s just that I’d had the Crux mosaic single-hop, and here this was, and I really like the Anchorage Galaxy and want to get a better understanding of this hop....

Pours gold with a white head. Even at fridge temperature we get a nice aromatic peach with candy grapefruit slices and just the tiniest bit of onion. As it warms to room temperature, it becomes more herbal. The flavor is on the sweet side, but not the least sticky-sweet --- this is a very different beast from the caramel malt heavy traditional PacNW IIPAs. It’s like sugar cookies. Along the same lines, the one has nothing of the heavy piney oils that drive those beers. Instead, very fruity. Passionfruit, that grapefruit again, juicy fruit chewing gum (remember those commercials?) A surprise touch of peppermint. Over-extracted herbal tea.

I’ve really enjoyed this beer. I bought it mostly for the learning experience, but it’s turned out to be quite delicious in its own right. Worth repeating, even.
