Many breweries procure their hops right here in the Northwest. But this beer features the Galaxy hop from Australia, a country famously populated by England’s cast out convicts. Cast Out IPA employs these hops aggressively from hop back to dry hopping stages. Yet the result is a balanced and bronzy ale, with medium hop bitterness complemented by moderate maltiness, showcasing aromas and flavors reminiscent of passion fruit.

Clear brilliant gold under a thick Rocky white head. Lovely tangerine and bitter grassy aroma with some bitter orange peel. Crisp and dry flavor with a nice bit of orange peel and light citric bittersweetness, a touch of American floral/grassy hops, and a mild pithy but gold malty dry finish.

500 ml. bottle. Bottled 12/01/2015. Pours a medium thick, well retained, off white head, with light lacing, over a slightly hazy amber (SRM 8) body......nose is heavy floral hops with citrus, primarily grapefruit, pine, tropical tones, mild toasted malts with light bread, balance to the hops.....taste is mildly sweet, with grapefruit, pine, tropical fruits, finishing with a moderately heavy, lingering hop bitterness, balance to the hops......mouth feel, medium body, light alcohol warmth, moderate carbonation making for light creaminess. This is a hop dominated IPA, with only light contributions from the malts. This is quite typical of the newer generation of IPA’s. BJCP 8/3/14/4/8

Bottle. Pale honeylike hue with soft haze and very little head. Very floral aroma, a melange of rose petals and stems and lilac, with a little sweet apricot and gummy bears beneath. Clean and green. Flavor is equally verdant, grassy and stemmy, with spun sugar sweetness and a shock of alcohol, with lingering lawn clipping bitterness. Not too powerful, but it has a nice balance.

Appearance: white froth like a dog foaming at the mouth. Orange copper color underneath. Aroma is fruity rind of honeydew. They say it is passion fruit. (I like passion fruit and once ordered a case for the holidays.) Hoppy with a bite balanced by malt foaminess in the mouthfeel.

Bottle share at Canary Wharf, thanks to Fergus. As Crux Cast Out , 7.6%. Clear dark yellow, a few bubbles, foamy white head. Aroma is grapefruit, gummy fruit sweets. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is straw, pretty woody, pineapple cubes, crystallised sugar. A very tasty hoppy beer. I’m liking the woody bitterness. (3.9)

42nd Floor Tasting. Thanks to our host. Almost clear yellow - gold beer, residual white head. Palate is smooth, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Light malts, a little creamy sweetness. Hops bring touches of pine and hop spice, citric peel and a trace of lemon. A weird bitter note emerges before the lemony citric finish. Decent despite the brief skewed bitterness.

50cl bottle shared at the early April CW tasting, London. Many thanks to Fergus. It pours a clean golden color with a medium white head. Not lasting long this foam. Aroma is tangy danky hops with grass citrus peel and tangerine. Taste has also dry crispy tangy notes of grass citrus peel tangerine and quite a decent presence of dank weed notes. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, very nice
