COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name “Outcast” gives a nod to the origin of the Galaxy hops used. The hops came from Australia, which was originally populated by English “Outcasts” or outlaws.

Pours a hazy, translucent bright golden-orange with a half inch of off-white head that quickly recedes to the edges of the glass. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruit, pine, sweet melon. Flavor is dominated by hops: bitter, resinous, citrus, with a lasting floral, bitter finish. Somewhat light-bodied for the ABV. Delicious and very drinkable, although the bitterness starts to take over after several sips.

Bottle from Chuck’s.

I am going to stop buying IIPAs. Really I am. It’s just that I’d had the Crux mosaic single-hop, and here this was, and I really like the Anchorage Galaxy and want to get a better understanding of this hop....

Pours gold with a white head. Even at fridge temperature we get a nice aromatic peach with candy grapefruit slices and just the tiniest bit of onion. As it warms to room temperature, it becomes more herbal. The flavor is on the sweet side, but not the least sticky-sweet --- this is a very different beast from the caramel malt heavy traditional PacNW IIPAs. It’s like sugar cookies. Along the same lines, the one has nothing of the heavy piney oils that drive those beers. Instead, very fruity. Passionfruit, that grapefruit again, juicy fruit chewing gum (remember those commercials?) A surprise touch of peppermint. Over-extracted herbal tea.

I’ve really enjoyed this beer. I bought it mostly for the learning experience, but it’s turned out to be quite delicious in its own right. Worth repeating, even.

Interesting beer. Funky nose, earthy base. Fruity from start to finish. Exotic fruits, mostly. Somewhat hay-like and grassy. Pleasant bitterness. Wholesome and flavorful beer.

Salmoniform (477) - Sweet Home, Oregon, USA - JAN 31, 2014
Poured from tap to glass. Straw hue with white head that dissipated quickly to a thin ring. Aroma is tangerine, melon, pine, sugar, orange, coriander. Mouthfeel is nice with a light body and good carbonation. Taste is initially sweet with a bitter following and a sweetness through the finish. Overall, this is a really nice sweeter IPA.

Draft at Wurst Place. Pours a slightly hazy pale amber with a loose white head that sticks around a little bit. Mild toasty nutty nose with soft grassy herbal hop counterpoint. Sets itself up as a nice mildly flavored english ipa...that, and i might still have a bit of a cold. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toasty, nutty, grassy, herbal mid palate with a pleasantly light and toasty finish. All very harmonious and subtle and balanced...which is rather a strange thing to say about a dipa, but there it is. Eager to get back on this one. Clearly very well made.

Pint at "b2" tap-house in Salem Oregon. $4.50 Very light for a regular IPA golden yellow small white head? Real good aromas here though resiny, very herbal hops odd but nice. Taste very fresh very bitter very hoppy ,malts don’t have a look in. Kinda reminds me of New Belgiums Aramis IPA. Nice and very drinkable mouth feel this is 8%?? doesn’t seem like it. Good beer definatly NOT a PNW style IPA!
