Can at the Boise Co-Op. Pale yellow color with a finger of fluffy white head. Nose is mild, a little hoppy and pilsner malt. Lightly bready and earthy, good use of the noble hops.

Sample at Hoof Hearted during the "Koffüry Imperial Coffee Stout Release" on 05/01/2016 (as "Crux Pils"). The beer pours a clear golden color with a medium thick rocky white head that dissipates gradually. Stringy lacing. Aroma of fruit, grassy hops and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of mildly spicy hops, fruit and pale malts. The finish is mildly bitter with a short grassy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Can. Pours golden with 2 finger off white had. Aroma is spicy fruity and malty. Taste is sweet and tart with a bitter hoppy finish. It’s pretty good just not my style preference of beer.

On tap @ Mikkeller SF. Clear golden beer, odd for an unfiltered Pilsner...whatever. White foam. Great bready malts and floral hops. Some apple, light citrus, and some fresh cut grass. Really great sweet dinner roll flavor. Light bitterness on the finish. Really peasant but light esters. Crushable.

[1/28/16] Draught at Mikkeller Bar in San Francisco. As Crux Pils. Clear golden. Aroma of grains, a bit of DMS, grassy hops. Sweetish flavor, grainy, with malt and some bitterish grassy hops. Light to medium-bodied.

Draft on tap at Atlas Cider Company (Bend, OR). Pours a hazy straw yellow hue, a bit dulled but fluffy yellow cereal glow on the body and throughout. Consistent color, cascading bubbles and frothy bright white head atop is a mellow looser layer and thick ringer. Nice retention in that form, solid lacing. Aromas are Pils malt and stinky Saaz bitter hops. A touch of that skunk, earth and Pils and cereal grains. Faint lemon, herbal bitter hop appeal. Initial is lighter body, some scrubby floral bitterness, earth and herbal appeal. Bitter florals, earth and cereal grains. Pils crisp malts, earth and lemon, dank and bitter florals and a bit of pollen like appeal. Fuzzy, dry and bitter. Backend is crisp, cleaner, fresh stuff with with a nice hoppy bitter bite. Dry and fuzzy finish, fresher as that stinky dank feel tapers off a bit more. A bit lemony, subtle white grape, earthy bitterness, crisp clean malt bill tapers out. Pretty expertly worked, some nice potent fresher hop that steers the ship, crisp Pils malt body is gentle, light, ends up pretty crushable. Very nice fresh hop driven Pils that is clean, drinks nice and smells pretty good. A touch hazy pour but overall pretty great stuff.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2015 Draft at River Pig Saloon, Portland. Hazy gold with a short white head. Aroma impression is German noble lemon-citrus, flowers, dried herbs / sage, pale malt is lightly toasty and cracker-like. Medium-light bodied, lightly sweet with strong bitterness. Carbonation is frothy, moderately spicy-carbonic, and with the strong grip of finishing bitterness and the juicy hop oils the effect in the back is quite nice. Though it’s not yeasty or doughy, the suspended yeast does give it a pulpy-zesty-silty character, but the hop expression and mineral-heavy character reminds me of Franconian Kellerbier in general and Gänstaller Zwickelpils specifically. Superb lager.

On tap the next day at Green Dragon, it’s more clear, has a short and quick head, and smells dull, seems a little under-carbonated, possibly old... pretty interesting how much is different between the two. Surely these were different batches on tap at the same time, or possibly one was cared for while the other one suffered... hard to know. It’s frustrating to find it in 4.0 shape at one place and then find it around 3.0 at the next, but inconsistency seems to be Crux’s M.O.
