375, corked, capped, and waxed. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head that falls immediately away to not too much. Big sweet bourbony nose, some apricot showing. Lots of roast and coffee as well. Creamy thick body with soft carb. Roasty sweet coffee and black liquorice body. Long ashy roasty finish. Everything’s here, everything’s nice, not really a new spin on a style we’ve had a million times by now. Very good stuff. Just a lot like what everyone has done.

This was one of the best barrel aged beers I have ever had. Vibrant chocolate notes permeated throughout the whole tasting experience from aroma to the after-taste. One of Crux's best beers.

jbruner (3154) - Athens, Georgia, USA - NOV 23, 2015
Pours a opaque black from the tap with minimal head or lace. Aroma of big bourbon barrel sweetness, chocolate and vanilla notes dominate. Taste follows with a little more complexity, add some earthy licorice molasses notes. Thick and viscous, booze is definitely there but not over the top. Very nicely done.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VII on 09/25/2015. Brownish-black color with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, oak and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, vanilla, malt and dark fruit. The finish is roasty with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Bottle: Near black in color, topped with a small tan head. Huge aroma of bourbon barrel sweetness, chocolate, and roasted malt. It swirls and swirls, if a scent could have layers this is it. It sets the tone for a rich flavor that is heavy in sweet bourbon barrel and vanilla. Lighter bittersweet chocolate and roasty notes. A very deep flavor. Really nice brew.
