2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
(33 cl bottle) golden, clear, with a dense white head. Smells a bit strange, a bit like marzipan indeed, plus something sharp. Aroma has hay, hints of licorice, hints of bubblegum. Taste is lightly sweet with some bitterness, getting stronger in the finish. Palate: at least not watery, but also slightly sticky. Overall: It tastes like a very condensed version of a pale lager, but not a very convincing one. Drinkable, yes, but I would probably not buy it again.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle. Pours a clear light bronze-hued golden body with a small white head. Nose is sugary marzipan malt tones, slightly oxidized touches of dark fruits, licorice and hints of anisseed. Strange aroma. Taste is similar, with strange metallic sweet anisseed tones and some slight citric-bitter tones in the back. Thin body, medium to high carbonation. Not very good.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Location: 33 cl bottle from an El Corte Ingles, 4/4/13
Aroma: The aroma is quite malty, toast, caramel, and with a bit of grassy hop notes as well
Appearance: This one pours a clear gold color with a thin white head and some very light lace streaks
Flavor: The taste is much the same, it is clean and malty, with just enough hops to notice them
Palate: It has a fairly light body, I expected more heft considering its over 6%, but it is clean and drinkable
This one really doesn’t feel like a heck of a lot more than a Pale Lager, but it is clean, drinkable, and solid. There isn’t a ton a going on here, but it has just enough to step it up from the lighter Pale Lagers you find all around Spain.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from a supermarket in Barcelona. Poursa golden brown, minimal head. Malty, fruity, overpowered with alcohol. ’Gran reserva 1904’ promises more but under-delivers.
