1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
(Bottled@Stockholm Beer Festival 2005) Pale golden color with a small head. Slightly sweet, acidic and sourish, fruity-corny aroma. Sweetish-corny-malty flavor with an acidic finish. Light-bodied, acidic, sugary and low-carbonated palate. A typical, sweetish bulk lager.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottled. Clear golden appearance. A bit metallic and dirty. A classic discount beer with no hoppyness. Thin and boring.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Sweet malty nose, with a faint note of some kind of weird hop. Pale yellow body, with a small white head. Light malty flavor, grainy, very weak hoppyness. Quite watery.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottled. Golden coloured. Unclean aroma. Sweet and thin flavour with adjunct notes. Thin. Very bad.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
1st of last night’s tasting. Mid-to dark yellow, small white head. Just a little bit of corn/skunk in aroma, otherwise nothing. Taste is mild, again, some corn, light malt and is actually somewhat refreshing. No finish at all. We’ve certainly had much worse swill and I would drink this if ever on vacation in Castro’s land.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. First beer of a night of tastings, let’s see how it fares: Pours a clear yellow-gold with a small white head. Not enough bubbles or head, we’re not off to a great start. The aroma consists of sweet malt and sugar and a touch of skunk. Nothing to impress here either. The taste was watery and mild but with a harsh aftertaste. Like GregClow says if this would have been after some much higher rated beers I would have been harsher but as the first beer of the night I can at least say that there was nothing unpleasant about it, it’s just dull.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2005 Bottle - shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc at tupalev’s domicile - provided by tupalev. Poured a very bubbly wanclear straw yellow - what white head there was was gone before the bubbles stopped. Thin aroma - I got slightly sour sugary malt, sharp esters - pineapple & other fruit flavour - couldn’t decide if it was slightly skunky or if that’s just the fake tropical fruit aroma not agreeing with my sniffer. Taste - very nearly none; some sour apple juice, a little grain, wet cardboard - very thin mouthfeel, although it did develop a bit of character with warming, namely a mildly irritating chemical harshness. It didn’t "make me angry", and I could easily kill about 12 of them on a beach in Cuba if nothing else was available, but certainly not memorable.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle courtesy of tupalev, via his wife - shared with tupalev, jerc, blankboy & HogTownHarry. Pale yellow-gold with a small head. A very slight hint of skunk in the aroma, but mainly mild, fruity malt. Fizzy mouthfeel. Not much going on in the flavour, but at least what is there isn’t offensive in any way. I found some alcohol harshness in the finish, but none of the other guys noticed it. Good choice to start the tasting - if we’d had it later in the night, I suspect that my score would be a little lower due to the comparison to more flavourful beers.
"Mmmmm, I can really taste the Communism!" - jerc or tupalev (sorry, I don’t remember which one of you cracked this one...)

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
07.22.05 350ml bottle, that’s unusual. I guess I grabbed this bottle after the RBSG grand tasting, too. I didn’t even notice it was from Cuba until today. Dark straw pour, thin white head fades to ring, no lace. Aroma is corn, canned potatoes, water, grass mulch. Very bland with some more potato (?) and wet cereal. I might convince myself there’s some fresh grass in there, but it may be my imagination. One thing’s for sure, it’s not at all offensive and it seems to have held up quite well to almost two weeks of travel in the cooler. It’s got a bit of a slick mouthfeel that lingers, almost a waxy coating inside the mouth. Huh, well, that’s unattractive.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Golden colour with a white head that disappears quickly. Grassy and malty aroma. A slightly sweet malty taste with a thin body and a sweet aftertaste with not much bitterness.
