bottle at a random bar in the Kalk Bay are of the Western Cape, South Africa. Looked like any other pale lager. Aroma was dominated by sweet corn. The flavor was also very corney but had a surprising hop kick for a pale lager. Not sure the corn and hops went together that well but it was unique at the very least. Overall: weird, but interesting and pretty refreshing.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle @ Café Værkstedet: Cubanero Fuerte.
Quite surprising for an american/caribian pale lager, and better than much mexican beers or Carib.
The aroma is quite sweet, maybe even a bit chocolaty which I find amusing, not especially distinct nor vague. Appearance is as any pale lager, at least I could’t tell if there were a difference in the absent light at Værkstedet.
Flavor is again quite sweet for a pale lager (apparently everything you drink in Cuba are sweet), with some hops and a good bite of alcohol - actually it is not special in any way, but it appeals to me.
Maybe what also has an effect is the rich and fat texture, much for than I had expected, but odd enough it only lasts 50 percent of the time before you sink; then it becomes quite watery.
All in all an respective pale lager; I would prefer it over well-known brands as Heineken or Carlsberg.

330 mL. Had this in Havana a few times. Pours a modest gold with not much of a head. No lacing. Aromas of grass, honey, cereal grain, and some artificially added alcohol. Taste very sweet with lots of corn and cereal finishing with cardboard and metallic notes.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
330 ml. bottle, labeled "Cubanero Fuerte". Average deep golden colour, small head that doesn’t hold and no lacing. Boring smell of herbs, with some sweetness from malts and chemical soap.
Watery flavor, taste of hops and herbs. Just like a typical boring mass market beer that looks like they were all the same. I wonder what makes them label this beer as "strong".
