Here one has to appreciate the context...all Cuban beers are well..lousy, but this is the best, and much better than Cristal. My beer of choice (and in Cuba there is very limited choice) when I am back home in Cuba. Context is my balcony facing the Malecon after walking the streets of Havana... and there Bucanero Fuerte, si es fuerte, it comes on strong, clean, straight to the point. I read these reviews...Lemons??? Seriously cuban beers with Lemons???? Just to let you know, if you find yourself in Cuba this is the beer to ask for, and you will be disappointed, but then comes all the rest, so I will save you some time and even bigger disappointements.

Bottle 33cl. as Cubanero Fuerte. Clear deep golden, sometimes quite large bubbles which keep popping up all the way, good frothy sligh tly off-white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing; fresh aroma sweet malty, grain, corn, grass; taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty; medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, light sweetbitter aftertaste, bit metallic; acceptable lager.

350ml bottle from Cozumel, MEXICO. My first, but probably not my last Cuban beer, given the opening of US-Cuba relations. Excellent clarity in the copper-amber body. Weak head despite ample visible carbonation, including some remarkably large bubbles. Flavor: OK, but made from "the finest selection of hops, water and malt"? ... perhaps they mean "the finest {economical] selection of hops, water and malt" available in Cuba. In any case, flavor blends earthy hops with stale bread and seems to have some corn or other adjuncts.

Drinks of the World, Bern: I just couldn’t resist, as an American, to get a bottle from Cuba. I knew it would be rubbish, and it was not very good, but I couldn’t resist. Pours gold with white head. Aroma is grainy and skunky. Taste is light and sweet. Slight alcohol at the end, somehow. Low carbonation.

Bottle from Beers of Europe as Cubanero Fuerte. A mid amber orange coloured beer with a frothy but weak white head. A very light aroma, some biscuity malt and weak fruity hop. Dry mouthfeel. The taste follows on from the aroma, some malt elements, biscuity, bready and a touch of spice, then a mild fruity hop bitterness. The finish continues the hoppiness into a weak end.

Can bought in Cuba several times. Golden lager color with little carbon. Smells like metal, alcohol and a little hops. Taste light sweet. My favourite beer in my class-trip to cuba.

15/II/15 - 33cl can @ home - BB: 23/I/15 (2015-227) Thanks to Erwin and Johan for the can!

Clear dark blond beer, big fizzy aery white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit sweet, sugary, some corn flakes, fruity touch, bit of banana. Aftertaste: bit grassy, corn flakes, sugary, some banana, metallic, little hoppy. Drinkable, but boring stuff as suspected. Hey, another Cuban tick! :p

Espuma efímera que se disipa enseguida, color dorado brillante y transparante, no tiene apenas aroma en nariz, sabor suave y bastante gasificada, regusto corto

Cuba’s national standard lager, tasted as Cubanero Fuerte. Creamy, crackling, quite thick but quickly diminishing, snow white head leaving a fair amount of lacing, colour clear ’old gold’ with good fizz. Sweetish aroma, already a bit oxidized, bready malts, popcorn, minerals, iron, sourish touch and a chalky sweetishness reminding me a bit of aspartame; hops are nowhere to be seen. Sweetish, grainy onset with a hint of bready sweet malts, sourish grains again, clear corn presence, medium carbonation for this style; minerally and metallic body, hint of biscuit, with a mild, leafy and somewhat herbal hop bitterishness still showing up in the finish, drying a bit. Another bland pale lager indeed, but not as bad as expected. Still, it cannot convince me of associating Cuba with anything else than rhum and good cigars when it comes to the ’worldly’ pleasures.
