184601 (93), Mexicali, Mexico Apr 2, 2008 Sampled on draft at the Baja Prog Festival March 29th 2008 at the teatro del Estado .At the Cucapá stand the draftman gave to me a big shot when i asked him where can be purchased..What a nice guy!!They werent selling it that night, they brought it for themselves since this such a sophisticated beer.Wow A BEER THAT ITS OWN BREWER DRINKS even at especial ocassions like that. However the beer itself poured a little tan ring for head, dark brown body, heavy syrupy aroma, the flavor is syrupy too, very hoppy, The brewer said it has chocalate malts (which i think its true) but i bet they put some honey into it,nicely hidden alcohol in the formula, the palate was quite sweet, bitter finish and light body.Another triumph by Cucapá Brewing Co, my !! they keep improvising the good stuff. goldtwins (3738), Nesconset, New York, USA Feb 18, 2008 Tap @ O’Briens: Poured black and almost opaque with a thin tan head. Diacetyl and roasted malt. The flavor match with diacetyl and roasted malt. Some sweetness to start the flavor that then dries out for the finish. moderately bitter with some warmth. WeeHeavySD (1841), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Feb 17, 2008 Draft @ O’brien’s 1/15/08. Pours black with a tan ring. Nose is malty roasty and sweet. Taste is like Chocolate syrup, decent. bikesandbeers (419), San Diego, California, USA Feb 11, 2008 n draft at O’Brien’s Pub during their anniversary week barrel aged night, shared with Goldtwins, DarkElf, Wetherl, and others black beer with a roasty aroma Roasty flavor wih bits of choclate, carmel, and coffee, like a good imperial stout. the joke around the table was that this was the best impy stout to ever come out of mexico, being that no one could name another. I also like this brewery’s barleywine. wetherel (1033), Carlsbad, California, USA Jan 17, 2008 On tap at OBriens. Malty. Some chocolate caramel roastiness in a good way. More roastiness in the flavor, but not over the top. Black. Microbubbles, but very little head.
