JorisPPattyn (4690), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 22, 2008 Draught. Marks for Appearance are an average, as beer was sampled in weak artificial light after dark. Fusels, raisins, ethanol, candi sugar ans some mushrooms aroma. Sweet taste, bread, and unidimensional, compared to the nose - more’s the pity. Well bodied, lots of alcohol and -burning, dangerously slick (in going down). Surprising beer for MX. And NOT bad. goldtwins (3754), Nesconset, New York, USA Jan 3, 2008 Tap @ 2007 Strong Ale Fest. Poured a clear amber color with a beige head. The aroma and flavor were sweet and fruity. The finish was odd. Some hops Warming with a semi-dry finish. Cletus (3593), Connecticut, USA Nov 29, 2008 Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, chocolate, some raisins, figs. Tastes roasty and layered with some fruity hints, molasses, some peaty hints. Very unusual and enjoyable. GeneralGao (2722), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Dec 20, 2008 Cask at Papago. Poured a clear dark orange color with an off white head. Smelled of pear, apple, grain alcohol, and flower blossom. Medium bodied, probably lightened up by the hefty alcohol presence. Moderately bitter and bone dry with a warming alcohol effect reminiscent of a nice peaty scotch. Very woody flavor with a tobacco accent. The flesh fruits in the aroma did not come out in the flavor. Interesting and unlike any barleywine Ive ever tasted.
