750ml, $9.49, from the Davis Co-Op. Pours a deep ruby amber with a medium-sized yellow-tan head. Looks absolutely stunning, perfect for the style, even better than my beloved Old Stock dare I say. Aroma is pretty straightforward; dark malts, honey, brown sugar, unprocessed barley. Pleasant aroma, simply. Ooh, a definte malt bomb flavor-wise, slightly sweet, good hop counterpoint which waited until the last minute to present itself. Pretty smoky flavor too (only slightly meaty is the smokiness), grassy finish. Alcohol is present but relatively subtle. Gooey body, sticky finish no less. Easily the best Mexican beer I or anyone else have ever had. Which isn’t saying much, of course, but it’s really nice to see a decent beer coming from Mexico at this point in history nevertheless. A very nice example of the style. Overall, very good to excellent.

Pours with a deep red body with little head and no lacing. It’s sweet and malty with an underlying hop note and a touch of roast. Full bodied, warming and tingly on the tongue from the carbonation.

On tap at Draft Magazine’s Big Pour in Mesa. Pours a clear amber with a cream colored head. Nose is caramel malt, hops, smoky malt and coffee. Taste is pretty much the same with a bitter coffee and hop finish. Lighter mouth feel. Comes off more like a scotch ale, but good regardless.

Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, chocolate, some raisins, figs. Tastes roasty and layered with some fruity hints, molasses, some peaty hints. Very unusual and enjoyable.

750ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a dark amber color with a small head that rapidly dissipates and leaves no lacing. The aroma is sweet with caramel and dark fruits. The taste is overtly malty with caramel, black cherries, dates and licorice. There is a touch of hot alcohol, but nothing that is too distracting. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is medium in duration with lingering anise. Overall: The first Mexican concoction that I have had that stands its own with the craft beer best. I very much enjoyed this tasty brew.

Bottle thanks to Odeed. As A Mexican I had to have the best Mexican beer out there. Poured a nice copper color with some thin off-white head. The aroma was full of caramel, dark fruits, alcohol, and a bit of hops. The taste was pretty sweet up front, thick and silky with the dark fruits and some toffee prevailing at first, followed by alcohol, and finishing with subtle hops. The mouthfeel was rather smooth. Nice finish, this was a true treat.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. pours dark brown, light tan head. Aroma, caramel and chocolate malts, light hops. Flavors, same with caramel malts, light warming abv, grainy mouthfeel with touch of chocolate and residual dark fruits. Overall mouthfeel adds a nice hoppy finish.

Not much carbonation when popping the cap. Pours a light tan three fingered head. Murky brown umber body. Sweet aroma. Wonderfully malty sweetness with an alcoholic backbone. Reminds me a lot of that British barley wine with the devil on the label, whose name is escaping me right now. Bit of warming in the throat. Probably the best Mexican beer I’ve ever had!!
