Upon pour the drinker will be punched in the nose by caramel, prunes and varnish. Not quite opaque, and almost blood red. Way to sweet, makes my woman’s reisling taste like Punk IPA. Too further this theme, it is syrupy thick and sticky. Reminds me of that terrible Lithuanian Triple Bock I once had. (If you tried it, you’ll remember.) Naming a Mexican import Green Card is not a good idea, and it doesn’t get better from there. Imported by Elite Brands, Kalamazoo. I say deport it - to the ocean floor.

Poured in a snifter. Pours a dark amber color, pretty opaque, and very little head. Aroma smells like caramel syrup, smells like it will be very sweet. Very little hops can be detected. Taste is extremely sweet and only slightly bitter. All caramel malt and slightly darker malts. Where are the hops? Finish is fairly smooth, alcohol is fairly well hidden. Just not much going on here. Disappointing.

Bottle, thanks to Ken. It pours clear amber, with a thin beige head. The nose is pretty sweet, maple syrup, honey, cake and spice. The taste is tinned fruit (peach and nectarine), toffee, sweet apple and warming alcohol. Full body, fine carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Pretty smooth actually.Decent. Definitely the best Mexican beer I’ve had to date.

22oz. Murky brown, ultra thin barley wine. Not that malty and sureasfuck not hopped well. Has alcohol. $2 & still blah.

Bottle at CBC’s 1st Birthday Party. Thanks to Paul (I think!) for bringing this. The pour is deep amber with no head whatsoever. The nose is cherries and spiced xmas cake, marzipan and cheese. The taste is toffee, cherry and nutmeg spiciness. Some fermented brown bread. The body’s full, carbonation is soft. Overall, pretty good.

Bottle shared at Craft. Clear amber beer, good pale tan head. Smooth palate with a little fine carbonation. Smooth sweet malts. Sweet toffee and cream. Trace of orange and dried fruits. A little aniseed in the finish. Pretty straight down the line barleywine but I quite liked the sweetness.

Bottle. Poured clear reddish brown color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate dark fruit and small caramel malt aroma. Medium body with a dry smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a complex unbalanced beer.

22oz bottle in a shaker. Pours amber/ruby with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of caramel and cereal malts, some light hops, a little bit of spice, and hints of alcohol. Flavor the same, with a lot of malts. Smooth texture. A pretty good beer.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish brown. Light off white lacing. Nose/taste of candi sugar, apple skin, toffee, caramel, honey, dark fruits and bread soaked in alcohol. Finishes sweet with little to no alcohol burn. Body is on the lighter side for the ABV but not by much. Sticky sweet honey and caramel mouth feel. Overall, a very drinkable barleywine.
