3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 northropfrye (845) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 21, 2012
Dark brown colour with off white head. Bubblegum, and a bit of a sour aroma. Taste is roasted malts, bubblegum, quite sweet. Less bitter/chocolate/coffee than a lot of beers in this style. Perhaps only the second good Mexican beer I’ve ever had.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1698) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 29, 2012
Super dark brown with red hues up to a light, creamy medium brown head and 360 sticky lacing. Big smooth chocolate, mellow roasted malts - both in perfect harmony with each other. Faint spice and even a fainter fruit. I actually think I can smell citrus, biscuit. Maybe it’s orange based. Xmas spice makes its presence known after a while. The taste is also very nice. Mellow with a finishing mild bitter bite that builds a bit. Great malt blend with nice hops - this is a very well balanced beer. Light heat, not quite pine, orangy / grapefruit notes pop up after mid sip. Soft finish that lingers, light fruit and somewhat bitter finish with forward malts. This is a wonderful beer. So much to like and nothing to dislike.

650ml brown bottle. Deep brown-near black in colour, some deep red edges. Big creamy tan head, thick lace. Nose has lots of dark choclate and some roast. Taste is chocolately up front, black coffee and heavy roasted bitterness on the back end backed up by big finishing hops. Roasty dry finish, leafy hoppy aftertaste, pretty light on the alcohol, drinks very easily. Medium body and carbonation. Overall, not super aggressive but a nice balance of chocolate/roast/ hop going on that I enjoyed.

650ml bottle pours dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger off-white head that leaves some fantastic lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits and mild hops. Taste is dark fruity sweetness with a moderate hop and dark chocolate bitterness. Medium body with good carbonation leaving a nice bite on the tongue. A very well done stout that was quite tasty and thoroughly enjoyed.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Torontoblue (27) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 24, 2012
From 650ml bottle. Pours a deep dark black with a large mocha coloured head which settles down to a fine lace. Aroma is of spice (nutmeg, cinnamon), roasted malt, hops, some figgy aromas and dark chocolate. Nutmeg & cinnamon come through on the palate, with a nice attack of bitter hops & dark chocolate. Sweetness from the malt balances out this bitterness well, good carbonation tickles the tongue. All leads to a balanced bitter-sweet, drying finish. First ever beer from Mexico and I think I’ll be back for more!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 dalfaro86 (98) - Atizapan, MEXICO - JAN 23, 2012

Bottle, 650ml. Special Winter edition of the regular Migra. A touch heavier and slightly superior to the regular version. Pours a pitch black colour with a great fluffy chocolate head with nice lacing. Aroma is again very chocolately with nice malty touches. Taste is perfectly balanced, quite bitter, but the many malts contain it well. Alcohol is very well hidden. The chocolate and roasted character is magnificent. One of Mexico’s very best.
