3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz: pour is black with a khaki head. Aroma suggest a lot of sweet malty flavors with notes of chocolate, caramel, coffee, raisins and brown sugar. Flavor has brief hints of sweetness that quickly fade in to bitterness from dark malts and hops. Coffee with hints of chocolate. Body is thin for an imperial stout. Reminds me of a black ipa.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
double deuce - pours dark brown to black with dark beige head. Nose is milk chocolate, coffee roast, dark fruit, brown sugar and caramel. nose suggested strong sweetness, but mouth says bitter. Not as robust I would expect an impy stout to be.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
post-cascade + upright tasting sessions - ’coz we’re porks. pours dark brown with a small light beige head, some retention. burnt caramel, soy, fruitiness, light fruit acidity, almost acrid, lightly roasted chocolate beans, hint of smoke, bit of ash and weird coca-cola esters. average carbonation, light to medium body - feels sort of light, shy grassy and resinous finish. DP.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle (22 oz). From dresden, thanks! Dark brown with a medium quickly diminishing beige head and little lacing. Aroma of molasses, fruity notes and chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet with fruity notes, light acidity and light chocolate. Thin body. Moderate carbonation. Not really complex. Subpar RIS, but not that bad considering it’s from Mexico.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
650 ml bottle shared with Tom and chums. Pours black with a resilient beige head. Somebody around our table appears to think it smelled, and I quote, like "salty balls". I, on the other hand, did not perceive any particular aroma. Thanks a lot, smartass. Flavor is fruity, roasty, ashy, tart. Finish is roast and boozey. Lingering ash flavor. Surprisingly light body, weak carbonation. Felt a bit more like a schwarzbier, which was a disappointment.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours pitch black color with a small dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, toffee, molasses, dark bread, light coffee, raisin, prune, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of dark/roasted malt notes with light fruitiness; and solid strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, toffee, molasses, dark bread, raisin, prune, light coffee, and roasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, toast, toffee, molasses, dark bread, light coffee, dark fruit, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with light fruitiness; and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good and unique imperial stout. Good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
5/11/2011: Cerveza Cucapa La Migra Imperial Stout... Aroma: Dark chocolate with a hint of black raspberry and something that reminds of vanilla and barrel char. Appearance: Has the color of melted semi-sweet chocolate; dense, creamy, light tan-colored crown. Flavor: Herbal molasses and cola; green tobacco; seems a bit burnt; cocoa nibs; freeze-dried coffee finish; high level of bitterness that is very herbal; sweet char comes through as it warms. Palate: Medium to medium-full body; smooth, calm carbonation; soft. Overall: Smells better than it tastes; not my preference of flavor combinations for the style; actually, it get better as it warms.

A little off-taste here. Definitely some kind of contamination - tastes a little amateur, or like something immigration should have really busted at the border, hence the name. Pours black with no head and a little lacing. Finishes kind of sour. Bottle thanks to Liam.

So so IS. Some roast in the aroma. Black bodied, a little thin. More of a stout.
