Avatar (75), Gliwice, Poland Aug 8, 2008 Bottle from San Felipe. Pours dark brown with nice little head. Full of citrus, bitter malt and dry. Very smooth and refreshing. Need to try more of this :)
BMan1113VR (1320), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Dec 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours with a sparse light brown head and a clear, albeit exceptionally dark brown body. Decent lacing. Aroma is slightly metallic with roasted malt, caramel, and raisins. Taste is malty with corn and raw, husky grains. A bit fruity, with a touch of caramel. Like biting in to raw, caramelized malt. Some notes of chocolate and metal. Thin and watery. Okay beer, not memorable. BOLTZ7555 (648), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Dec 18, 2008 Caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and a hint of bitter chocolate. Aroma is all roasted malt...not a ton of complexity. Mahogany pour with a slight garnet showing through the clear bubbly brew. Fairly thin but drinkable. clong83 (168), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Dec 8, 2008 Nose of malts. Flavor of caramel and crystal malts, with some subtle chocolatey hints. Some hops on the way down leave a nice crisp finish. A little on the thin side for what I like from the style, but it is okay. Decent beer. alexanderj (1502), San Diego, California, USA Dec 4, 2008 Bottle. Having this beer made me realize that I really like brown ales now and again. Color was a reddish brown with an off white head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, coffee, roasted malt with some fruit and brown sugar. Flavor was very nice for the style, so nice that I am surprised it is not rated higher, but to each their own. Caramel, cocoa and fruit blended nicely. Minimal hopping. Impressed with this brewery to the south thus far. Cletus (3593), Connecticut, USA Nov 29, 2008 Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of toasted malt, a touch of chocolate and tea. Tastes sweet and earthy with a hint of chocolate on the finish.
