NachlamSie (1631), Tennessee, USA Jun 23, 2008 Draught. Pours black with a small ring of a tan head. The aorma is nutty, choclaty with heavy suggestions of brownies. The carbonation is very low and gives this brew a creamy mouthfeel. A nice coffee character is present with more hints of nuts and choclates. The finish is semi dry in an earthy/wooden fashion. Very quaffable. 502Flavors (617), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 15, 2008 on tap at brewhouse. Poured near black with a minimal head (I blame the bartender for this - I hate when bartenders, especially at reputable beer bars, don;t know how to pour a beer). Aroma is dominated by roasted malt and coffee (no hops). A bit watery on the palate, but soft carbonation made it smooth. The flavor is very very smoky with a molasses backbone (no chocolate, currant, or any other typical flavors of a stout... all smoke). Overall: unique, pretty solid, and pretty damn potent flavor. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA May 25, 2008 On tap at Cumberland brew pub. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Smooth, bland, thin, watery with a chalky finish. Kind of reminds me of that mass produced one from that Island across the Atlantic. While this would have been one of the better beers had I tried it earlier in the evening at BBC, it was probably the worst beer at Cumberland. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Jul 12, 2007 Updated: Jan 31, 2008Pours near black with a thin, maintained tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and mild roast. Taste is lightly sweet with chocolate, earthy malt and light roast. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lush carbonation. This is pretty close to the nitro porter without the nitro. gunsho (134), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 6, 2007 very weak in the mouth but farely confident in taste and smell. not cumberland’s best but worthy of a pint. wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Mar 19, 2007 black with a nice dark brown head. nice roasted coffee aroma. dry bitter coffee flavor. bitter dry coffee finish. medium body. moderate carbonation. straightforward but good stout.
