Still, clear dark amber, no head, no lace. Strong caramel malt with a infiltration of currents and/or prunes. Quite distinctive (and tough for me to describe adequately), with a lightly hopped finish. Better than other Cumberland Brews I’ve had.

Has a deep red color, but little head. Very easy on the palate and almost goes down like a light amber.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Chudwick (1080) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - SEP 9, 2011
Draft in a pint glass - pours ambe with thin tan head and no visible lacing. Nose is malts. Aroma is roasted malts and caramel with a hint of hops. Tst is sweet and finishes a bit bitter. Not as hoppy as most beers from Cumberland. Mouth is oily. Not a bad beer but nothing exceptional. Would recommend this to this who like the style.

I just had Cumberlands "Red Ale" and am guessing it is this. I agree with most of the people here that it was pretty, but ultimately boring. It didnt really smell or taste like much except a blunt but somewhat muted (if that makes any sense) bitterness coupled with a bland and amorphous malt character. Overall: not horrible by any means, just not special. There are better beers to try at Cumberland.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 laguerita (111) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 10, 2008
i had high hopes based on the gorgeous color. but it was ultimately underwhelming. apparently a result of too much crystal malt according to noblesquirrel.
