3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 b3shine (2453) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Draft to 20 oz chalice (big ballin’ up in dis bitz). Looks good; an opaque brown with thin off-white lacing. Smells and tastes sweet and malty with some hop notes and a nice, smooth finish. You can definitely tell they aged this one (and for the better). A great example of the style.

It’s been too long since I last checked in on Cumberland. They are still trucking along making solid beers if this is anything to go by. I should plan another visit next time I am in the area.
Aroma / Appearance - The dense coppery base contains a full body. It is fairly standard for a barleywine but on the mark. Vanilla, oak, and mellow old hops are soft for a big beer.
Flavor / Palate - Sweet caramel, hints of lemon, and vanilla cling to the palate. The barrel aging has done a good job of taking the edge off the beer and turning into more of an old ale. This is heady and worthy of a tapline at an event like the Great Taste.
