Brigadier (1220), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Oct 20, 2008 On tap at brewpub
This was the last tap of the afternoon before heading off to dinner. One of the best options available this is based on coffee brewed next door at Ray’s Monkeyhouse. Wile it is on you should try to make your way here. This is a great example of a stout done by a brewer who knows how to make great beer.
Aroma / Appearance - Thick and dense the khaki colored head sat on top of a deep black body. Roasted coffee, malt and cooled ash were my initial impressions. Warm rye bread settled at the end. Overall it was easy to get lost in this one; the density was almost as rich as some imperial stouts.
Flavor / Palate - Cooled ice coffee, dark chocolate, and smoke melded into a smooth experience. The smokiness reminds me of that residual odor left in a bowling alley after it clears for the night. I could drink this one all night. One of the softest and easy drinking stouts in recent memory I would recommend this to everyone.
