COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Crisp and refreshing Belgian Blonde ale. Brewed with 50% wheat, the lively carbonation brings out the fruit and spice of the yeast. OG - 11 degrees plato.

Pours hazy dark golden with a mostly receding white head. Notes of sweet yeast, foamy wheat, pear, banana, citrus, coriander, lightly tart. Thin to medium bodied with lively carbonation.

Draft sample at Keg Liquor FOA. Poured hazy golden to yellow color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate yeasty sweet citrus aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Draft at Cumberland. This was an incrediby unattractiv beer that looked like it had milk poured into it. Other than that, it wasn’t half bad. I don’t think this is really a witbier, regardless of the wheat content as it came across in taste as a spicy, estery blonde ale. Just can’t get over how ugly it is.

On tab at the brew house. It was a hazy yellow... completely murky. I know hazy is not atypical of the style, but to this degree it is. Cumberland needs to either buy a brite tank or learn how to use the one they have, if they do indeed have one. I’m tempted to talk to the brewer himself because this has been one factor of all of their beers that just has gotten to me over time. Anyways, not a bad beer, but not outstanding. Very solid and drinkable. Again, like other cumberland brews, the head faded to nothing very quickly leaving no lace. Medium body with medium carbonation. Citrus, wheat, and light fruits on the aroma and flavor. Overall: fine. I might have it again.

This was another last minute addition that I found in another notebook. Cumberland Brewing is a nice gem tucked away in an area where Rich O’s/New Albanian and Bluegrass Brewing get far more attention. I tried this while chatting with the brewer at the table. I hope they can expand their taps to outside bars to build a bigger presence around the region.

Aroma / Appearance - The golden yellow body filtered out about a quarter of the light that passed through. A half finger white head floated above it. Orange cloves and a hint of spices made this the typical Belgian wit. Spot on it has no major flaws.

Flavor / Palate - As a wrapup this was a nice refreshing alternative to big heavy beers. It’s not the most complex wit out there but makes a great local beer if you live in the Kentuckiana area. Cumberland Brewing is a nice gem tucked away in an area where Rich O’s/New Albanian and Bluegrass Brewing get far more attention.
