Bottle shared with DownsouthGav. Malty aroma, spice, caramel & dark fruits. Pours deep brown/red with off white head. Taste is grassy, some hops, thick mouthfeel. Not a bad effort at all.

Bottle courtesy of Carlus12. Nose is very malty and creamy. Pours a dark coloured beer. Taste is sweet, malty, typically a dopple but the toffee and spices seem to be weak. A not bad British attempt but I prefer the real thing.

A Mes rate: Bottle on the train thanks to Reakt.
Translucent rich red brown colour with an off white head that settles a little too quickly. Sweet aroma of apple, plum, treacle and dark fruit. Complex and rather lovely. Flavour follows on nicely with a fantastic hit of bonfire night treacle toffee and some rich sweet malt. If I was going to be harsh, I’d say the hint of apple in the finish lets it down a touch but I’m gonna ignore it. A lovely glow in the belly tells you it means business and the whole experience is pretty glorious. Lovely smooth mouthfeel that is thick but not cloying. Has the character of something along the lines of a British Cuvee Van De Keizer. Close to greatness.

Bottle from open all hours. Aroma is Sweet pale malts, hitns of toffee, grassy and light spice. Taste is similar grassy hops throughout, so not really a traditional doppelbock, but still a nice beer.
