COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available in 330ml bottles (bottle conditioned)
Previously known as Curious Brew Admiral Porter, from which the current version differs only by the inclusion of a small amoiunt of Goldings hops together with the Admiral.
This Porter has been brewed using crystal, chocolate, black and amber malts from floor malted Sussex barley. The bittering hop is Sussex grown Admiral with a small amount of Golding late hops. Matured with oak to give a delicate balance of sweetness and bitterness, this beer is bottle conditioned and unpasturised to preserve the extraordinary flavours. Contains barley malts.

Badged as just "Curious Porter" from Waitrose. Black with the aroma of roasted malt. Some sweet roasted malt notes, hint of coco powder, quite smooth, hint of buzz on the tongue. It’s okay.

Bottle conditioned, as Curious Porter, from Waitrose Willoughby. Deep red-black, thin but lasting off white head and low condition. Gentle coffee aromas with a low fruitiness and some roasted barley notes as it warms, quite dry in the mouth with the roasted barley notes dominating although there is a persistent fruity sweetness lingering, finish is again roasted but with some muted chocolate powder noticable.

Dark with ruby highlights and a thick, light beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, raspberry, oak, lightly roasted malts. Flavor is much more roasted than the aroma would lead you to believe. Cocoa, some deep fruits, and oak. Mouth feels a little too carbonated, but not bad. Enjoyable.

A deep red/brown coloured brew, with a roast malt nose with atinge of sourness, sharp but not unplesent citric notes in front with rounded malt.

12 oz bottle, via rickgordon. Pours a clear mahogany colored body under a large fizzy light brown head that slowly receded to nothing leaving no lacing. Nose is chocolaty and roasty with a good bit of raw oak and a vinous quality. There’s also some grape soda and light hoppiness. The flavor is a little thin, mostly dry roasted malt and very minimal oak tannins. A little coffee and grape on the finish that’s a little astringent. Mouthfeel is pretty thin and watery with alot of fizzy prickly carbonation, similar in alot of ways to seltzer water. Overall, this was a concept that never reached full fruition. Needs alot more body and true oak aging.

Bottle, 5.0%. Vinous pine needle aroma. Very dark brown colour, small light brown head. Quite flavourful, lots of vanilla and some sweetness. Very late coffee aftertaste. Vanilla in porter is good.
