(Bottle at home) Pours clear dark red/brown. Medium sandy head. Aroma: Chocolate and sour coffee. Some roasted tones. Vanilla and buttery oak. Metal. Sour and roasted flavour, buttery aftertaste. Coffee-ish aftertaste. Pretty good balance between the sourness and the buttery taste. Medium body. Small bitterness.

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
(33 cl bottle at Haket, Gothenburg) Clear red color before the sediment hits it and shading appears. Nice, but non lasting, beige head. Some roasted scent, but also spicy. Pine and fresh spring meadow as well, but also acidic. Christmas spices. Smells like lacto bacteria and infection lingering but noticable. Some wine taste, most likely the oak aging is made in red wine barrels. If it was a blind testing, I’d guess for an experimental Belgian ale, certainly not a porter. Dry and thin mouth feel. All in all strange and un welcome. Maybe if you like red wine it’s better but I can’t take this.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown colour. Aroma from roast, metal and blood, bit sourish. Vague juniper in flavour with lots of toast malts, a dash of dark fruits and a metallic touch. No chocolate. Blood and metal. Light coffee. Fruity ending. Lingering, yet, light bitterness. A light London Style Porter with that peticular roasty feel..

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Very dark brown with a big head that stayed almost until the end. Slightly astringent aroma, but not unpleasant. Taste of chocolate and roasted malt with only a hint of the oak. Very rich taste with a small bit of cherry coming through as it warmed.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
33cl bottle at The Coastguard, St Margaret’s at Cliffe. I was surprised to find all 3 beers behind the bar. I was admiring their selection of other beers and mistook these for wines. I recognised the labels as I have done the vineyard tour. I was even more surprised at the £2.70 price tag. This is a beer with a deep brown/ruby colour and a disappearing beige head. Choc/liquorice aroma, velvety in the mouth with an odd oaky finish which I admit I don’t care for. Bit of vanilla too. Bit too carbonated and a bit too oaky. Nice try though
