3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, reddish brown with a rough, beige head. Vinous aroma. Medium body with a light tartness and oaky, vinous notes. Unusual with the oak accents in a beer this light in alcohol, but actually very pleasant. 150906

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled. Dark brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is sweet acidic fruits along with hops and coffee. Some wet, burnt wood is also present. Flavour is old coffee, sour and acidic dark fruit. The aftertaste is quite the same, but with chocolateish hints. A very sour and acidic porter, otherwise it could be nice...

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2007 Bottled. Ruby/black, small beige head. Licorice aroma. Dryish with wild yeast sourness, roasty malt and the lightest touch of wood and old english marmelade. Finishes somewhat metallic with medium bitterness. The yeasty acidity makes gives it a touch of old ale.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown color; frothy head. Mild but interesting aroma, with a clean wood character, giving a light oak bacteria sourness. Light body structure, quite common taste, based on roasted malt and caramel, but embellished with a gentle oak character and very light Bourbon vanilla. The final is mainly built on the roasted malt, quite dry.

A deep red/brown coloured brew, with a roast malt nose with atinge of sourness, sharp but not unplesent citric notes in front with rounded malt.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
33cl bottle at The Coastguard, St Margaret’s at Cliffe. I was surprised to find all 3 beers behind the bar. I was admiring their selection of other beers and mistook these for wines. I recognised the labels as I have done the vineyard tour. I was even more surprised at the £2.70 price tag. This is a beer with a deep brown/ruby colour and a disappearing beige head. Choc/liquorice aroma, velvety in the mouth with an odd oaky finish which I admit I don’t care for. Bit of vanilla too. Bit too carbonated and a bit too oaky. Nice try though

Bottle, 5.0%. Vinous pine needle aroma. Very dark brown colour, small light brown head. Quite flavourful, lots of vanilla and some sweetness. Very late coffee aftertaste. Vanilla in porter is good.
