Cusqueña is a super-premium lager from Cuzco, the seat of the Inca empire. Brewed since 1911, it uses only the finest natural ingredients, including pure mountain water from a source at 18,000 feet in the Peruvian Andes.

My mom brought this one back from a trip to Peru. +++ sampled from a 330 ml brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a small foamy white head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was malty, sweet, tangy, corny and had a bit of citrus. The flavor was sweet and tangy sugar, corn, a bit of yeast, citrus and a hint of sour mash. Medium length finish. Medium body. Basic macro lager style.

Pours dark golden with a white head. Aroma is sugar and a hint of grain. Taste is kind of sweet. No hops. Some grain. Not terrible. Better than Cristal, probably.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 330ml twist off bottle served in a Weizen glass. A: Pours a clear golden yellow color forming a small fizzy bubbled white head. Low retention and only few lacings left S: Sweet malts, adjunct malts (mainly corn), Lager yeasts and some almost imperceptible notes of hops in the end T: As the nose. Sweet upfront. Sweet caramel malts, adjunct malts, bready Lager yeasts, very ligh bitterness in the end. In overall a slightly sweet beer with a strange faint hoppy bitterness M: Very light and watery body and medium to low carbonation. Aftertaste is a bit annoying, a mix of cardboard and weird bitterness (I’m asking myself what type of hops do they used here...) O: Average drinkability. A bit annoying, actually. A beer that I won’t try again... [ BA Review @ 9/25/2012 ]

Flaska. Klar guldfärgad med medelstort vitt skum. Dofter och smaker av gräs, malt samt viss örtighet. En lager i mängden.

Bottle. Clear yellow with a medium sized good lasting white head. Sulphur, cardboard, cornflakes, light wort. Medium/light body, watery texture, light sweet finish. Turns out the gold of the Inkas is just a bland lager. Would like to try the water, though.

Bottle @ home. Easy drinking lager, no head, light brown color. Nice alcohol balance, fresh malt, chicken broth. Nothing special good to drink on a summer day.

Bottle from Sainsburys Team Valley. Standard lager really - not a bad example for a mass produced one

Simply the best, smoothest, beer I have ever tasted. Just the right amount of alcohol, tastes like real beer and not some light beer that’s basically water with a barely detectable beer flavor. Cusqueña has a true beer flavor without too much "bite" and without the heavy quality of some of the darker beers I’ve had.

Otra lager del montón, de esas que hay en todos los países. Fresquita entra bien y va bien con la comida.
