Cusqueña is a super-premium lager from Cuzco, the seat of the Inca empire. Brewed since 1911, it uses only the finest natural ingredients, including pure mountain water from a source at 18,000 feet in the Peruvian Andes.

Yes to seriously rubbish lagers in one nite is something i havnt done for quite while, but here goes. Aroma is better than expected, but maybe some sort of hop character trying to keep cardboard and corn hidden away. Taste is not smooth, harsh cardboard and carbopnation leaves the mouth to dry, however this does make it easier to finish then the last beer i had.

hmmmmm, another pale lager, except this one is from Peru. Grabbin a bottle opener. Pourin into my favorite taster, a 20 oz british "Nonic" glass. Pours a very standard pale yellow, with a very friendly looking very stable head of tiny pure white bubbles. carbonation seems to be fairly high. Aroma, well from about a foot away it smells very VERY much of co2, but I will now bring it to my nose. metalic malt is dominant, not very intresting. Palat is thin and a little sandy. the taste is pretty awful. metaicly sweet with a heavy dose of skunk. no undertones, no plesantness, just awful. Aftertaste is sickley sweet. Drain pour. Bassed on the other ratings, I’m thinkin mabby mine is spoiled. Cheers

Bottle in Sub Lounge, Birmingham. Golden Lager, with a hard carbonation. One of the better Lagers I’ve had recently, with an icey smoothness on the back of the throat. Some almons maybe and cakey malt perhaps. Had some weight.

Bottle: The most notable about this one is that it is my first Peruvian beer. Besides that, it’s what you’d expect, spicy, plain, unmemorable.

Clear golden straw colour with a thin white foamy head. Malty, grainy aroma . Flavour is slightly maly and grassy with faint hops at the end. Light and easy drinking but not great.

This has that wet cardboard, from underneath the cat’s littler box kind of aroma. Nice upfront skunkiness, this beer tastes like stale buttered bread and some other adjuncts, corn perhaps. Bland.

A co-worker of mine bought this back form Peru for me. Gee thanks. Large bright white frothy head. Good carbonation. Aroma of a skunks ass. Once that gets washed out it become a mish mash of corn, cardboard and adjunct. Color is a pale gold. Soft bready flavor with some more corn and a bit of hops. Finish is pretty dry and pasty with only a light hops bitterness. Pretty crappy.

12 oz bottle, best before 5/17/06.
Pours clear golden yellow with a soapy white head. Head dissapates rapidly and leave no lacing.
Aroma is bland, light malt, cereal, maybe some corn.
Flavor is light, clean a little metalic.
short, clean, dry finish. boring. not horrible just boring.

Very pale yellow lager with minimal head that shows poor retention. It has a malty nose, fesh and clean but boring like most sweet lagers. It has also, a little more flavor than other lagers from the region, but that’s not much since the mouthfeel is very dull and watery. Smooth and with low bitterness, an average lager.

So, here I am sitting down and doing my expenses for the last trip to Chile. And look what pops up. A list of some more beers had on my visit to Santiago. And guess what? These Peruvuans use the same recipe as every other bloody brewer in this part of the world. If these were toxic the whole South American breing fraternity could all be lumped together as cereal killers. Corn, pale malt, metallic and thin. Wine time again I feel.l
