Cusqueña is a super-premium lager from Cuzco, the seat of the Inca empire. Brewed since 1911, it uses only the finest natural ingredients, including pure mountain water from a source at 18,000 feet in the Peruvian Andes.

Pours yellow and fizzy. Smells of dry malt, caramel, apples. Tastes of sweet caramel, some corn, apples, touches of bitterness. Some straw on the finish. An okay lawnmower beer.

33cl bottle on Virgin train from Euston to Liverpool. Gold, lasting off white head. Not unpleasant lager aroma, some hop on there. Slightly creamy in mouth. Very acceptable lager. Good hop sting on finish. Would drink that again.

Taste with BMan1113VR. Listed as malt liquor. Hmm. Light yellow body with some bubbles and no head. Sour nose with some wheat corn adn water. Nose is of nothing maybe some metal in the taste and nose. Crap.

Clear pale golden pour with a 1/8 inch head. Well behaved on the pour. Not overly carbonated like most pale lagers coming out of the bottle. Aroma of cream corna nd not promising. Flavor makes up for it a little by being a little bitter, but lets you down when you tastes the sweet corn malt, corn syrup, and water. Decent bite, despite little bubbling in the glass. Fizzy, carbonated mouthfeel. Are all these pale lagers worldwide brewed from the same recipe of corn malt, corn syrup, and city water supplies? Putting "Andes Mountains" and "Gold of the Incas" does not make up for having crappy corn, water "beer" in the bottle.

glennmastrange (2681) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 14, 2008
Bottle. Smells of grain, straw, grass, flowers, light dough a faint fruitiness and white wine. Head is large, frothy, white, with virtually no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear gold. Flavor is lightly sweet and acidic to start, and finishes lightly bitter. Palate is light, watery and has a lively to fizzy carbonation. Not a whole lot of anything, but light and refreshing with a unique taste.

The Incas might have defeated the Spanish if they had consumed more of this fine lager.
