On tap at the brewery. Sample size. No head. Poured a light brown. Could have been better. Same hop finish as some of the others sampled.

Medium brown with a small, creamy light tan head. Aroma is very malty and sweet, very nutty, caramel, brown sugar, raisins, and a hint of smoke. Big, sweet malty flavor of candied nuts, raisins, and caramel. There’s gotta be som peat smoked malt in this one too, as there is a mellow smokiness in the background. A bit of bitterness in the finish, but the malts dominate. Pretty substantial body with moderate carbonation. I think this has come quite a long way with two years in the bottle, it was a little hot when fresh, the alcohol apparency is gone now, it is now quite mellow and delicious.

Got this beer from the bartender Matt at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY. This beer starts off with sweet aroma. There’s really not a presence of hops in the aroma. You can definitely can tell though this is a high alcohol beer. Rich amber coloring. This beer has a HUGE maltiness to it; very full bodied. There’s a sweet start, but an astringent and metallic finish. The palate is smooth, but a little sticky. Little to no carbonation. Overall a fairly good beer, but could probably use even more aging, even though this bottle was nearly 2 years old.
