3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Boutip (3971) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 17, 2009
Bottle: Poured a medium dark color porter with a large off-white foamy head with OK retention and no lacing. Aroma of creamy roasted malt with light sweetness also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by some medium dry roasted malt with light sweetness notes reminiscent of lactose. Body is a bit light with OK carbonation. Not bad but really nothing to write home to at the end of the day.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Jblauvs (1336) - Amesbury, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 6, 2009
Dark pour with a small tan head. aroma is coffee and some sweet cream and some roast. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Flavor is a bit bizarre with some nice lactic notes and some mocha but also a strange tartness which I couldnt place. Dry finish.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 beerbill (3044) - Laurel, New York, USA - SEP 3, 2009
12 oz. bottle. Pours just about black with a moderate tan head that lasted through two-thirds of the glass and left a complex webbing of lace. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt along with just a hint of chocolate. The flavor is roasted malt along with a bit of burnt toast and mild tobacco. Mild bitterness at the finish. Surprisingly light bodied and somewhat thin. Worth trying, but not worth repeating.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 williamherbert (1121) - Syracuse, New York, USA - AUG 30, 2009
Dark dark brown; red at the edges. Decent puffy head. A little glassy in front of the light. Solid.
The smell is mild breakfast blend coffee with creamer. A really creamy, milky aroma. Sweetish caramel malts; really mild. Really great and creamy and mild.
The taste is mocha coffee. A little bitter, a little cherry/berry/grape sweetness. Gets more mildly malty bitter as it warms. It’s a solid drink for sure, just needs to heat up a bit.
Milky and creamy feel; silky. Really pleasant, smooth, mild and creamy.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 corby112 (2214) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 27, 2009
Pours a deep dark chestnut brown color that is almost completely opaque with the slightest of mahogany edges when held to a light source. Chocolate coffee colored tan head that slowly fades into a lasting cap that coasts the pint glass with lacing on it’s way down.
Slight roasted malt aroma with coffee, sweet chocolate, lactic/cream, nut, toffee and burnt toast notes with a slightly smokey presence and subtle hops.
Medium bodied and sweet with not as roasty of a flavor as the aroma leads on. Milk chocolate and creamy lactic notes with a decent hop presence. There is, however, a funky, sour sweetness that is very odd with some smokey coffee and toffee notes as well as a weird licorice like flavor that really turned me off. Almost vinegary which is very strange for the style with a charcoal like dry finish.

Bottle. pours black with tan creamy head. Very roasted malty. Not a bad offering by any means. However, my home brew stout is atleast as good if not better.

Bottle received via trade with jah noth. Pours black with an average, frothy, light brown head, mostly lasting with spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (caramel, chocolate), light hops (grass), average yeast (sweat, leather) with notes of tar and dust. Light bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 ChainGangGuy (4122) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - OCT 19, 2008
After the disappointment that was the Brewcrafters EPA, I’m a bit hesitant to revisit this brewery, but I’m a bettin’ man, so let’s double down and go Double Dark!
Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a thinnish, whitish head.
Smell: Roasty nose, a touch burnt even, with an overall earthy, chocolaty character to it.
Taste: Roasty chocolaty taste with an acidic sourness running loose through the flavor from start to finish. It really ruins the beer and sends you reaching for a tall glass of water. I demand to know what is going on here!
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Argh! I lost everything! The Custom Booocrafters got me again.
