COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
CB’s Double Dark is all that the name implies and more. THis is a deep chocolatey brown porter that starts out with a deep roasted aroma and flavor. This beer pours with a rich, foamy, natural head. The experience starts with a nicely roasted nose and flavor which gives way to a malty sweetness and finally to a crisp hop finish. Brewed with Pale Ale, Crystal and Chocolate Malts with Northern Brewer and Cascade Hops.

Growler bought (4/24/04): Pours with a small, mostly diminishing head, that is almost nonexistent(may be due to forgetting about it in the fridge for a week). Aromas of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, some caramel or vanilla sweetness. Flavor is initially bitter and coffeelike, unsweetened chocolate, peppery?, with a hint of hops I’m barely able to pick out. Mouthfeel is much too watery, and should be more creamy if they are going to call it a cream porter. Finishes bitter/smokey with a slightly dry feel to the mouth. Being as I left this beer in a growler for a week or so I’m going to give this beer benefit of the doubt until I drive down to Honeoye falls and re-rate it soon.

Deep dark brown/black brown head. Sweet roasted malt aroma, some chocolate. Flavor was similar to the aroma but seemed watered down and flat. I was disappointed, expected more.

Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is of sweet chocolate. Taste really disappoints with a watery start and the classic roasted porter finish. Has this at Shea's in Buffalo

This beer poured a not quite opaque brown with a tight creamy head. Aroma of coffee and butterscotch. Creamy chocolate taste.

I had this beer on tap. It has a nice smell of chocolate and coffee. The first taste is strong but smooth. It does have a bit of a strange aftertaste I'm not able to place. Overall seems to be an average porter. I had this at Custom Brewcrafters.

Dark brown colour with a fantastic tan head that tops the beer perfectly. Very sweet aroma filled with chocolate, coffee and strong vanilla. Medium to Light-bodied; Velvety texture, nice roasted malt flavour with strong prolonged sweetness. Aftertaste very mellow showing sweet vanilla characteristics and a nice maltiness. Overall, a nice beer and great flavours all-around. I had this pint on cask at the Old Toad in Rochester, New York.

Muddy dark brown; cocoa, hint of coffee in the nose. Semi-sweet chocolate in the finish. Otherwise a straight porter with no surprises.
