COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
CB’s Double Dark is all that the name implies and more. THis is a deep chocolatey brown porter that starts out with a deep roasted aroma and flavor. This beer pours with a rich, foamy, natural head. The experience starts with a nicely roasted nose and flavor which gives way to a malty sweetness and finally to a crisp hop finish. Brewed with Pale Ale, Crystal and Chocolate Malts with Northern Brewer and Cascade Hops.

Dark brown colour with a fantastic tan head that tops the beer perfectly. Very sweet aroma filled with chocolate, coffee and strong vanilla. Medium to Light-bodied; Velvety texture, nice roasted malt flavour with strong prolonged sweetness. Aftertaste very mellow showing sweet vanilla characteristics and a nice maltiness. Overall, a nice beer and great flavours all-around. I had this pint on cask at the Old Toad in Rochester, New York.

This beer poured a not quite opaque brown with a tight creamy head. Aroma of coffee and butterscotch. Creamy chocolate taste.

Growler from Hegedorn’s. This beer appears black with a slight red when held to the light. It has a creamy, mocha-colored head. The aroma is of burnt dark roast. It has a medium-full mouthfeel that’s slightly creamy. The flavor is of burnt grain and coffee. I like it. It tastes like burning.

Dark dark brown; red at the edges. Decent puffy head. A little glassy in front of the light. Solid. The smell is mild breakfast blend coffee with creamer. A really creamy, milky aroma. Sweetish caramel malts; really mild. Really great and creamy and mild. The taste is mocha coffee. A little bitter, a little cherry/berry/grape sweetness. Gets more mildly malty bitter as it warms. It’s a solid drink for sure, just needs to heat up a bit. Milky and creamy feel; silky. Really pleasant, smooth, mild and creamy.

12 oz bottle from a friend in NY. Pours dark black with a thin tan head. Nice roasted malt aroma that isn’t too overpowering. Medium body with a slightly slick/oily mouth feel characteristic of an oatmeal stout. Roasted malt notes up front that give way to a slightly dry finish. Well balanced and not overly aggressive. Overall an enjoyable, creamy well roasted porter. Overall: (B+)

It tastes smooth. Similar to Guiness.... It’s like a coffee guiness. I can see why the smoothness seems to make some think this beer is watery, But that’s just a reaction from an unexperienced rater. BURN !

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a tan head. Roasted aroma, a bit of coffee and smoke. Flavor again has coffee and smoke with a bit of vanilla. Long finish with smoky and roasted bitterness.

Bottled. Poured very deep brown with a short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up well-roasted sweeter chocolates, vanilla, and lesser caramel.. very sweet, and quite enjoyable. The flavor had buttery-sweet chocolates, molasses, and a touch of coffee at the core.. light cocoa and earthy bitterness around along with a little vanilla.. toasted sweet chocolates on the finish.. tasty. Medium-bodied with a light-moderate roast to it.. on the sweet side.. I would’ve liked a little more influence from the hops, but it was very good.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2011 Tap: Black with a deep tan thick head. Coffee and Chocolate aroma. Very roasty, fresh taste. Decent stuff. 12oz bottle. Pours a glossy black with a thin ring of dark tan cream. Aroma is chocolate with a little bitterness and roast to even things out. The flavors are nice and chocolaty with a nice milky, creamy character that fits with the name. There is also a touch of bitterness in the finish from what I assume are the hops. A very easy-to-drink porter in the sessionable range.

Aroma of deeply roasted and charred malts. Very black with crimson edges and litte head. Tasty, deep malts, very scorched, almost like a stout, with some bitter chocolate and a slight vanilla cream.sugar flavor. This is a porter that drinks lke a sweet stout. A fine offering.
