3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 zach8270 (2816) - Henrietta, USA - SEP 26, 2004
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2008 [draft - Custom Brewcrafters - Honeoye Falls, NY] Dark amber color with a thin white head. Very nice hoppy and peppery aroma with some citrus hints. Initial flavor is very hoppy and spicy that quickly goes to a sweet flavor blended with some malt and finishes crisply with a finish that’s a lot lighter and less bitter than I thought it would be from the aroma.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ElJefe (553) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 26, 2005
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2005 Pours medium brown with a medium sized tan head which leaves nice lacing. The aroma is sprucey and spicy hops, with some malt. Flavor is mainly pine and spruce, with a definite spicy quality to it. Nicely balanced with an almost nutty maltiness. Nice smooth, full mouth feel.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Ron (1695) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 10, 2005
Had this at the Flour City Brew Fest. Smelled like hops. Taste like too many hops for me. Even though the name should have warned me away, I just had to try all the beers at the Fest.
2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jb (1601) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 7, 2005
Had at the Rohrbach’s summer beer festival. Very clear yellow. Decent head. Real hoppy through and through, no aroma but for hop flowers. All other reviews they this was brown. But I have written that mine was clear and yellow.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 IPFreely (1471) - Sanborn, New York, USA - OCT 29, 2004
Brown in color with a cream colored head. Decent aroma, some spicy hops along with some earthy malts. Flavor is pretty well balanced with the malt and hops, not very hoppy though. Medium bodied, shorter finish. It was a decent beer, but for a beer whose name stresses hops, it doesn’t deliver on that front.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 shadey (1628) - Rochester, New York, USA - OCT 28, 2004
Draft at Custom Brewcrafters. Brown in color with a soapy white head. Aroma was a spicy hop. The flavor was pretty much hops with a little bit of that spice (pepper sounds right) in there as well. At first I thought it was too hoppy but it really mellows out after a sip or two. Good seasonal stuff.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BuckNaked (1223) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 9, 2004
Growler/Tap 2004: Pours to a dark amber/brown color with not much head. Aroma: hops (surprise!), bitter, am I smelling some malt? Flavor: Initially very hoppy & bitter, more complex than their average beer, very full beer, has some sweetness in the end. This is my favorite beer they brew to date.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 DYCSoccer17 (2788) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 30, 2003
Pours an amber/copper with a very slight head. Aroma is chocolately malt like a porter. Start is a chocolate malt like a porter, but hops out at the end big time. This is a complex beer, but I wasnt really expecting a porter/ipa mix. Had this at Shea's.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 cherr (162) - Rochester, New York, USA - OCT 14, 2003
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2003 Amber in color, nice light head. It smells very strongly of hops. They used a new variety this year apparently. It has a full taste, but for some reason does not taste as balanced or finished as others.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jgb9348 (3494) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - SEP 20, 2003
2003 Batch:
Dark amber in colour, thin off-white head. Strong hop aroma with a bit of sweetness. Medium-bodied; Strong hop flavour, very potent, but turning sweet. Sweet aftertaste, a bit of malt and hardly any hop bitterness. Overall, a very nice IPA served by a cask at proper tmperature and consistency. The beer shows complexity and is fairly good...especially for a local! I had this pint served from a cask at the Old Toad in Rochester, New York sampled on 15-September-2003.
