Acouple glasses from JB’s growler 2 nights ago. Deep black pour with a light brown head. Thin lace. The aroma is softly sweet with a little bit of toffee and molasses. A lot of sticky malt character along with some roast and a bit of light roast and some chewiness. Enjoyable. Thanks for the trade JB.

bottle... black body, thing watery light tan head barely leaves a ring, no lace... the aroma is very charred, molasses and black licorice as well, not bad as the back end is really sweet and provides balance... the taste is sweeter than I thought it’d be, not as much balance the finish bitter... not bad for the style, one of the better Custom bers

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheJester (1264) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 12, 2011
650 mL bottle. Looks the part. Smells large. The body doesn’t live up to the aroma, but it’s certainly not bad. Not as sweet as some of the eastern European versions I’ve tried. (This is a good thing.) Alcohol adds effectively to the flavour right up front. Actually, the flavour hits pretty good immediately - it’s not subtle. It’s not terribly complex, but it lingers nicely. Solid beer.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackIPA (326) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 11, 2011
2oz bomber from Wegmans Penfield. Pours brown with a brown head. Chocolate, toffee, roasty in the nose. Tastes really roasty and chocolaty... pretty decent. Not a world class beer by any means but a good effort. The only downside: very over priced for what it is.. $7.99 for a bomber of average porter ain’t gonna cut it for this guy. Would not buy again.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jb (1601) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 24, 2011
Very rich chocolate aroma, not a bitter chocolate, not a milk chocolate. Palate is very full, thick and tasty. Burnt notes, along with chocolate milkshake with a touch of jamocha. Gritty towards the end. Really nice. Appearance is very dark, maybe a touch of red highlight.

draft at Coles, Buffalo, NY. Well done CB!!! Dark cola pour with tan khaki head. choclate & tootsie roll aroma. Fuller mouthfeel. Big delicious flavor of roasted malts, liquid tootsie rolls, chocolate. Hide 10 % quite well. Usually order these kegs for a rating & the salesman is a good guy, but this porter is great.
