2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3388) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 22, 2012
My wife brought this one back from a trip to Rochester. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-brown color with a medium sized foamy orange-tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was nutty caramel, light tangy fruits, bubblegum, raisin and cherry. The flavor was malty and sweet with notes of nut, molasses, band-aid, floral hops and a light medicinal presence. The finish was long, medicinal, herbal and floral. Medium body. Eh.

On tap sample at Custom Brewcrafters in Honeoye Falls, NY.
Mild aroma of toffee, peat, dark fruit, light roasted malt and dark chocolate.
Taste of caramel, peaty malt and cocoa. Lightly sweet, but not cloying in the least.
Medium to light mouthfeel and average carbonation.
Scotch ale with an interesting, peaty complexity.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thebusstop (138) - Rochester, New York, USA - DEC 30, 2011
This was not a very exciting Scotch Ale. I could see where it was going, but it never got there. The nose was lacking. The flavor was enjoyable, but it lacked the bite one usually gets from a Scotch Ale; there was no heat. It was brown sugar sweet, with some meaty undertones. It was on the watery side for sure. Custom Brewcrafters has done better.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 blipp (3920) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - DEC 28, 2011
Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Sweet brown sugar and maple aroma, with light toasty notes. The flavor brings out more of the peaty smokey side, with sweeter notes of toffee, honey, and maple syrup, as well as lightly toasted malts. Decent.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ron (1695) - Rochester, New York, USA - DEC 23, 2011
Bottle. Pours a clear dark copper color with a thin white head. Brown sugar aroma, as well as a hint of some smokey malt. Brown sugary taste. Very light and thin. I’ll stay with my Rohrbach’s Scotch ale.

MacBubba Scotch Ale is a slightly hazy, dull copper ale with a thin, sand colored head that fades to a film. The beer is turbulent enough to keep the film in motion. A kind of faint, dark malt aroma has a touch of sweetness and a grassy note. Melanoid is detected. It’s medium light bodied and pretty watery. The finish is sharp and it leaves the teeth a little gritty. It tastes a quite sweet up front, but that gives way to a leafy bitterness and maybe a touch of phenol. The finish is a little... cheesy. Well, it’s beer, anyway.

(draft @ Tap and Mallet - Rochester, NY) Copper pour with a thin off-white head. Very mild aroma of lightly sweet malts. Flavor is a bit sweet and malty at the start with a rather mild middle and a lightly bitter finish. Ordinary.
